Unable to start Illarion program...

Recently, I downloaded the new client to test it out, but despite continued attempts I have been unable to start the program. I get an Error Starting Program message that says the illarion file appears to be corrupt.
It tells me to reinstall and try again. I have tried reinstallation with no success. I also get a Windows message that says that the illarion program is in an invalid format and cannot be run by Windows.
What can be done to alleviate these errors so that the program can be opened?
Any help is appreciated.

What is your Operating system? There are two Clients..one for Win98 and one for Winxp. Are you shure you install the correct client?

I am running on Windows 2000 and I installed the client version for Windows2000/XP so I did install the right client.

Make sure it's the right build, it should be 26 I believe

The tag for the client I have installed is Illarion_WinXP_0.4_build_26.

You said you re-installed. Have you tried re-downloading it?

If I remember right it downloads as a zip file....have you unzipped the files?

Yes, I redownloaded as well. The illarion file I downloaded came as an installer. It basically unzipped itself, but yes I did unzip the files out.

Can you run dxdiag.exe and post roughly what system specs you have, Cirindil?
And, who knows, maybe the downloadable client's zip file -is- corrupt and some people haven't noticed yet? I don't have the time to check now, would be great if somebody else could.
When you double-click Illarion.exe in the illarion folder --> you get the "illarion file is corrupt"?
Or what exactly do these error messages say?

The server is down again. Just be patient. It's 9.30 am over here and most likely they did not have time to restart it yet.

Illarion is in a process of continous developement. There might always be bugs which cause the server to freeze. This happens. Sometimes rarely, sometimes annoyingly often.

Just to be certain I understand (I just signed up, and am trying to get on for the first time)...
I am opening the game from the Illarion folder, and after I submit my information, the screen goes black, except for the pointer.
Now, what I'm understanding from the previous conversation is that this is not an error on my end, but because the server is down.
Is this correct?
Thanks!

Thank you!
Is there any idea when the server may be up again?
I'm anxious to get playing!
