Would it be possible to make the next client compatable with Windows 95? I have many friends who would like to play, but can't because they have Win 95.

get them to download dirrectX 8.0 for 95, I'm sure there's a version on the microsoft website. If not, use the one for 98. They're basically the same thing. Once that's installed, and they have a decent enough system, yes, they can play just as well. I personally tried it in "run in compatiable layer" function on my win Xp, and it seem to load up just fine for me. The worse case of scenerial is that they have to reinstall or upgrade an OS, so what? The upgrade for XP home is like dirt cheap now anyways, then there's the older versions of 98

... Try the direct X 8 thing out, if it doesn't work, then I guess they'll have to fork out some cash to the monopoly M$...

DirectX 8.0 doesn't help to start Illarion under Win95.

I often heard about problems with Illarion and Windows 95. I have asked several times and no one ever told me that he got it to run with Windows 95. I guess you have installed a few other games before, that may have installed libraries I don't know about, but that are required for Illarion.

I tried it with my older computer now, and it works nicely (perhaps a bit slow, but that is just the network with my new computer). I do not even think it has DirectX 8.0 even....

No Problem.
You have to install Winsock 2 for Win95. You get it on the Homepage from Microsoft.
DirectX 8.0a is the best for Win95, you get it there, too.
Here is the link:

I didn't have that either, and it worked fine. I got DirectX 8 and that program, and that didn't make it run any differently.
