Ok so I posted this question in another thread but it dosn't seem to be getting to many replies and noone seemed completly sure so I figured id try it as a new thread.
I have had a charecter Excepted who I want to be a ranger and was wondering What attributes affect how well you use ranged weapons mainly bows/crossbows.

I have an own character as ranger, and i chosed his attributes very average.
A ranger has melee ability, but also raangeweapon ability. he knows sometghing about druidism. so i gave my ranger high agility, high dexterity, high perception, high intelligence and high strength.
high agility, dexterity, strength and perception are important for both, melee and range. perception is also important for finding herbs. and intelligence is important to be able to learn druidsm. well, so it was before the wipe.

Maybe he meant more of an archer? Ranger and archer are two different things. (not sure he did though).

a ranger is someone who runs through the forrest, protect the nature, fights good in melee and range, more often in range, knows how to use herbs and how to find them.

The whole fighting system will be build up totally new. Don't thrust what anyone says here.

I can't say for shure which abilitys you should have in future for distance fighting. But in my eyes dexterity and perception will be important.

In another game I play, a ranger is someone who uses a bow and also magic. Suppose all games use different names for different classes.

in every roleplaying game i played now, and that are many, a ranger was someone who protected forrest and nature, fought with bow and/or a long and a short sword and was wellknown in druidism, herbs, or lesser magic.

Illarion has no classes
One hint: Do not max just one or two attributes. If you intend to play a char who can shoot arrows, run fast for a long time, cast some spells, is in touch with nature and can find herbs, you need many good attributes.
If I'd be a little less lazy, there would be a list of sense making attributes for each "class" by now, but well, I am lazy.

to be honest, if he want to have magoc too the points would never be enough to make him better than jzst average. that means around 10 in the attributes. magic should be left away, than it may work fine

But without intelligence, how will he speak

sorry, but there is no possibility to make a character good ins omething without making him bad too in other things. or you will have just an average character with one attribute at 14 or 15

A ranger is normally known as a person who stays on his own, lives on his own.. and prefers his company to others...
The reason for druidism is... if he's living in the forest, he will learn to use it....
