Regreting?

Caitlin took a seat on the fallen tree trunk and laid the knobbly willow staff on the ground in front of her. Her look drifted into the deep shadows of the forest, lost in thoughts.
After some minutes a green-skinned, tall creature approached and stand next to her, gazing into the same direction and speaking through the rustling of the leaves in the wind.
"I welcome you, friend of the forest."
"Be greeted, keeper and guardian of all what grows in these woods.", Caitlin replied and her lips formed into a slight smile. The troll stood silently beside her and both kept quiet for a while, listening to the noises of the south forest like listening to a wonderful song.
"For every day that passes by...", Caitlin started to speak after a while, " ... for every hour I live from the source of the forest, since there is no own energy to keep my soul bound to this body, I'm losing slowly some characteristic traits of humans. ”
The troll remained silent and listened to her words. Not expecting an answer Caitlin continued...
"I lost the ability to hate. I can get angry or sad... but I don't know what it means to hate anymore. I can remember that there was a time in my life where I did. But now? "
Her gaze finally drifted away from the shadows of the forest and she eyes a carrion crow sitting on a branch of one of the trees near to her. A crowing came from it.
"No, I don't regret it and I don't want this feeling back, since there is nothing good that can be created through hate. ", she answered the crow. "But I wonder if people expect from me to hate the orc which nearly killed the one I love so deeply. They do expect me to hate him, but I can't. I also can't hate the person that murdered me once, even when he would do it a second time. "
Caitlin closed her eyes for a moment, thinking about what she just said before she turned her look to the troll.
"I've heard there is something roaming in these woods.... "
