Item deletion

There will again be an item deletion for items that were obtained by using a game weaknes.
There will be no substitution for that, as it was, in principle, bug using.

Could you give more information so people know what not to buy or avoid so the abusers do not screw over other players by selling these things because of a technical bug not accually roleplaying a theif or con artist. Alot of frustration is generated in the people who buy these things when this happens. All player trade will become stagnant except for raw materials if people are too afraid to buy things for fear they were obtained by using a bug.

Is that to imply that there was a substitution before?

Done.
No, I won't describe bugs. However, those who used it can probably tell you

Another reason for not playing Illa. There is a bug, items will be deleted and you aren't told which. Another possibility for bug abusers to sell their cheated items being deleted shortly.

Make two steps forward, one stap back, press "A", hold down shift, move the mouse cursor to the top right and you get all fighting skills set to 100.
Honestly, allmighty Rackere, which game developers tell their players all the bugs and show how to abuse them? Tell me one single game.
What you wrote cannot just be declared as "stupid remark", in fact it looks like an award winning comment in the cathegory of "most incredibly stupid remark of the century".
You win.
The bug was obvious to those who used it, it was spread on the boards, it was commented in flyspray, what would you expect, dear Rackere? What?
If this holds as a reason for not playing Illarion, please leave. This game obviously is nothing for you.

No problem actually martin as I was of the opinion my smithing skill was low for what I could smith. How ever could we get word from devs when it is safe to smith armor again? I simply ask as if i was smithing through a bug it was not apparent to me it was a bug. With the whole quality system it seemed possible if unlightly that I could make rusty armor allready.
Not even complaining I just dont like the idea I was using a bug unknowingly. I would like to avoid this in future is all.

Smithing an armor the usual way should be save.
It was save before, too.
It was just this one thing that was the bug.

Just a notice: I haven't played the game for weeks.
I don't expect you to tell me the bug but just which item is to be deleted so players can avoid buying it. But I see: Talking to you makes no sense.
Sorry, I really think you try to be an asshole.

No, I just call a stupid remark a stupid remark. No time to create euphemisms for that.
You cannot buy items that are deleted. I wonder why you care, as the only one, for that, without even playing. It's a miracle. All those who actually play the game took it without crying like a baby, the only one who acted like a little child didn't play for weeks. That makes me think.

The thing you have to do martin, is ask all the people that dont play the game if you fixing a certain bug causes them any issues.
And I am sorry but rackere if its true that you havent planned the game for many weeks why do you care? It affects you not at all

Welcome to martin's dictatorship. There won't be any information given out to any interested people who can endanger the system.
I was just interested.

Considering the 9 hours between the announcement of the upcoming deletion and the announcement of its actual deletion, it would seem that the principle behind the complaint was that including the alledged item in the original announcement would have saved players from getting conned into buying the item during that time interval, especially with the increased likelihood of the bug abusers trying to sell off the item after knowing its impending deletion.

Or in short, my recommendation for the future:
Just go ahead and delete. Notify afterwards.

Yes, total stop of information flow, that is.
Under my dictatorship, of course.

I would have deleted it at the time I made that posting, however I noticed that a lot of players were online and I didn't want to kick them out.
I will reconsider my policy concerning that

Here's an idea:
Code: Select all
flag A
if players_online = few
delete bugged items
notify on forums
else
go to flag A

We are still beta testers and should act as such. Don't blame the man trying to fix the game, but blame the person who exploited the bug instead of reporting it like they should have done. If you find a bug, whether it can give you an advantage or is relatively useless, it is your duty to report it.
Martin if it will stop players from using bug info to scam other players, kick us, I am sure all the good players wont mind specially if you post something on the forums afterwards
Why? So we can see how they made the armor by using a bug? This is complete nonsense. First off, if this was exposed before they fixed it or switched items so the good players wouldnt be ripped off it would lead to more exploitation. If a player ingame saw someone he wanted to play with ingame, and jumped ingame without reading the board, then went? He goes and buys 2 cheap items from some exploiter who already read HOW do make these items by bug abusing.
After the bug is fixed, there is NO point in posting how it could have been abused.

Accually I had no intention of him describing the bugs, but rather the items produced only by the bug users.

Ermm... nobody asked for HOW to do the bug, especially not that guy who you quoted about posting that kicking many players offline was to fix a bug.

Cliu all I said was that he should post something so we know why we were kicked, I never told him to tell us what the bug was, just to tell us the reason why we were kicked

You were kicked so that he could fix the bug.
For a more indepth version read below:
For whatever scripting that was created/recoded to work on the server, the server would have to be refreshed. Now, we can refresh the server while you're on it, but it comes with some difficulties, such as that all monsters respawn immediately--even if there is already monsters spawned.
That being said, a simple refreshing could be more than a bit devestating for anyone who is in monster territory or anywhere near monster territory.
On the test server, we aren't given such benefits. Constant refreshing and lack of activity on the test server creates a deadly little environment. I remember one time I refreshed the server ten times to create a horde of bandits to attack Martin. Ah, memories.

The reason was something else:
I had to do database manipulations. If I edit e.g. characters that are logged in currently, the changes I made would be wasted as soon as this character loggs out, as all DB entries of that character would be overwritten again.
If you are not logged in, editing the database is save.
Thats the only reason why I ask you to log out.
