Ironically, its not our decision to make. Many medieval names came from their vocation. Ever seen the last name Cooper?
Potter, Smith, Cooper, all come from vocations even though they are litteral words. I would say, its pretty unorigional, but it doesn't specifically violate any rules.

Well if I had a list of all the names, and the gm's allowed it Id go through and find the unacceptable ones.
And although it doesnt violate any of the rules, I still find it unacceptable

It's the first name that isn't allowed to contain existing words. The second name is allowed to have existing words.
Hell, there are all sorts of named around today based off words.
Also, a name was sometimes used to describe your trade.

Okay the first name sounds to much like ring, and rig, and ringo.
Just wish the person would put more thought into the name

Believe us when we say there have been
much worse names that have traipsed about Illarion, even after the name account system

. Rigo Blacksmith is practically nothing.

Rigo sounds like ring, rig, and ringo as much as
Erart sounds like errant, errand, and error.
It seems it would be much more important to "put more thought" into the aaactual rollllle-plaaayyyy, Error.

Grrr, dont make fun of the name. Its quite nice, and I have accepted it sounding like a rat, so if your going to say it sounds like something say a rat

Pretty much what they're all trying to say dude is that YOU don't choose if the name is fit for Illarion. If you don't like it it's your problem and you don't have to RP with them. Easy as that. But that's a really silly reason to lose out on some good RP. I'm sure there is someone out there that doesn't like your name. Oh well. Accepted is accepted, if its not breaking the rules then it's accepted. "Players not liking the name is grounds for banning" is not a rule. A horrible community we would be indeed if the GMs handed all the applicants in to us and we decided based on which ones we do and do not like the sound of.
And so: this topic equals stupid.

Thats so mean.
And I didnt say give it to the community, I said give it to me

I used to complain about names like Elminister and Aragon, but, technically, they're not breaking any rules with that, because those two examples are slight alteration/variations of the names I usually associate them with, or simply so similar that the level of recognition is striking, however not a direct rip of the fantasy character names in question. And last but not least, those names look holy next to a Musashi and a Raistlin in the game, if one of the
rules clearly states you may not use existing names from literature, and so on.
I don't think these name issues are worthy of a ban, but simply encouraging the respective players to choose a new name, alter the existing one, etc., just some possibility to keep the show running smoothly for everybody.
And "Rigo Blacksmith" as a name is not bad for a medieval fantasy setting, at least in my taste, I'd rather see more names like Rigo Blacksmith rather than another Musashi.

Accually Aragon has stated several times his name comes from an area in Spain not Aragorn of lotr. Things might also not be as they appear, I remember that drei jol or whomever had no idea (neither did I at the time) drei was a number. It can be surprising that names and things you think are origional are in fact characters or real people from somewhere or something.

I have this tendancy to be honest and blunt. I'm not going to say I'm sorry because I'm honest. That would be silly.
