Where to Buy, How to make / Wo kaufen, Wie herstellen

Posted: Mon May 23, 2005 9:03 am
by Galdriel
Since some players seem to have Problems finding Things, they need or how to make things.
(Even though things like these should be ingame matters).

Da etliche Spieler Probleme damit haben, wo was zu kaufen ist oder wie was herzustellen ist.

I set up this topic for knowledge exchange
(Things that should not be discussed here are:
The Working of Magic or the like, production of magic weapons - not that either is currently possible)

What should be exchanged:
Which trader sells what and where may he be found.
Production of basic Items, what is needed for those and where to put the Tools.

In between:
i do know, that the more active guilds do knowledge exchange internally which i strongly agree to. Also guilds help you getting the things you need faster which i also support.
Live as a loner is and will be harder than in the past.

Flail needs no hammer

Plate/Bowl

D Boards + Plane

Bright Bow

C Boards (I think) + Plane + Thread

Staff Handles

Cherrytree Branch + Crafting tools

Staff

Cherrytree Branch + Crafting Tools

Wooden Shield

Boards + Plane + (?)

Sword

Plane + (?) (Galdriel: a metal Blade? )

These are basic (Low Difficulty) items for carpenters

(Galdriel: C-Board = Conifer or Nadelholz , D-Board = decidouos or Laubholz)

Sorry, but flail can't be bought in the elventown. Not by the elf who just may speak elven. He just sells axes, saws, planes and carving tools.

(Galdriel: corrected)

Raw leather can be turned into leather by drying it, letting it lay on the ground in the sun is generally what people do.

You can use scissors to shear a sheep (They can be bought in the castle North of Trollsbane), or you can just kill the sheep then take its wool.

With wool in hand, use the spinning wheel (There is one in Eliza's shop). You should get a ball of thread.

To make cloth, hold the thread and use the weaving loom (also in E's shop). This will produce a gray cloth.

To make colored cloth, you will need to do a bit more...

To craft an item of clothing, you need a needle.

Aye this is correct but i am confused on how you use the needle with the cloth dont you need thread?...
also when you hold woll in your hand it will spin the wool not in your hand before the one in your hand but when you make cloth it does not do this and you need to keep puting on ball of wool in your hand to do so...is this correct?

I feel dumb =(. I don't know how to get a cherry branch...I tried everything, but just get the message that this tree can't be chopped. May someone explain how it works? *smiles*

I feel a little dumb too but perhaps there is a bug.
Carpentry hasn't worked well for me so far. When I have wood in my belt (both types) and the saw in my hand and I use the saw the menu that appears only shows the two types of different woods, no items that can be crafted. Am I doing it wrong?
And when I work with the carving tools (in my (no my char's ;) hands) and the cherry branch in my belt, the only thing I can craft are staffhandles because when you click on the staffhandle in the first menu, a second menu appears in which there is only the staffhandle, if you use that, you produce it. However, if you try the same with the flail or the staff, an empty menu appears and you cannot craft anything. Again, am I doing it wrong or is it perhaps a bug?

You need to buy carpentry tools and a plane. From the elf on the elf island. But you need an elf friend to help you as the elf who sells the items only speaks elvish.

Thank you.
Is the plane necessary for working with carving tools aswell?

P.S.: I have the plane, and if I use it the menu appears. Then again, the empty menu. And if I use an empty spot it says I do not have the recouses ready, although I do (both wood types). I'm sorry but does it have to be that difficult and if it does, wouldn't it be reasonable to explain exactly how it works? It is not an ingame question, is it?
Please don't feel offended if it is just a bug or I'm just stupid :)

Or you must organize someone who can create these tools. A carpenter for handles and a smith for the tool blades... if the scripts work by now.

The point is, most production steps do have 2 Steps in the menue.

the first displays what can be done generaly (Tools, blades, fitting things together (complete items))
the second one displays the individual item.
so it may happen, that the second one is empty since you are not yet good enough to produce it. try another branch which does contain objects.

I have a plane and both board types, but i cant make a wooden shield (it isnt empty). It gives the resource message. What other thing do I need?

Just curiouse whats the status of sword handels. As far as most of us can work out a sword handle is what we are lacking to smith swords :). I have not seen one in game as yet and some carpentars are pretty skilled.

To falco:
I have heard, only heard, that you need nails aswell. They can be produced by a smith.

It would be a lot easier if the 'You do not have the correct resources' comment came up.

Of course a wooden shield will require nails, it needs some sort of binding and as far as I know there aren't any metalic strips that fit around it.

Ask dwarves, hang around workshops, read the rpg board. The RPG there has been a smith who has posted already...find him.

Usually you say something like "Here is -itemname-" for things like that
