exe-problem

I have a problem to play this game.

I have downloaded the client, exported it to one folder. But when I double click on the exe-file in fact nothing at all happens! And this is ment literally! No program is starting, I don't see any error-msg, nothing! I have downloaded the client again, with the same results. I have installed the newest DirectX version, with the same result. So, I'm running out of options here (by the way, I have Win98). Is there someone who has experianced similar problems? Or do I just make a really stupid mistake ;)?

Any help appreciated,
Londarin

Come on people, is this such a minor problem, that no one wants to answer? :(

It would be nice if someone could help me!

I don't suspect anyone have encountered that problem before. The only thing that came into my mind is, that you haven't doubleclicked fast enough at the icon. If you are starting all other programs with the start menu, this might be possible.

No, it's definitly no double-click problem! For a very brief moment you can see the hour glass next to the curser, indicating that the computer is busy, but it disappears right after and nothing happens.

Ok, if is not related to the internet speed and to the double click, what else can there be? Is it maybe a problem of configering my windows-system? Although I doubt that, as I can start other programs by clicking on their exe-file.

Hmmm, did you really start the program from the directory where it is located ?

Yes, I didn't put the exe-file on the desktop, or anything anywhere else. And the tbl-files are in the same directory as the exe-file.

Hmm, this starts to get like a little detective story. Remember the slogan: "plug and play"? Ok, when I'm at home, I will erase everything connected to Illarion and download it again. Whatever the problem is, it seems I have to solve it by my own. But thanks for trying to help.

It does not only matter where the files are located. You must also start the game from within this directory. An icon or link from outside does not work. It works best when clicking on start->execute->path:\illarion.exe .
Well, wish you luck !

Hallo

i think the prob is many people dont know how to make a good link/shortcut and so it is better for them not to try it if they want just play the game and dont learn how to make links and so :)

Hi, it's me again .

Don't ask me why as I don't have a clue, but the the problem I described above is solved. But now a new problem evolved!

When the program started and I want to create a charakter I get the msg WSAHOST_NOT_FOUND. And than it cannot find the host IP and cannot connect! I have seen the other post about this problem and it was said that it is connected to windows95. The problem here is that I use windows98. The other strange thing is, that I can not check the ping rate to the Illarion server, there it tells me that it is an unknown host, which is odd as I can check the ping from my computer at work. And I have played Tibia before and still can (checked that to be sure that online gaming is possible at all). There is no proxy and (at the moment) no firewall!

Damn it, what do I do wrong? Please advice me what I should do! (Maybe get someone who is more experiance in computers than me ).

Hi,

as I said, at the moment there is no firewall installed at my computer. And at the time I was trying to connect the server status was "online" with about 8-10 people playing.

I tried to ping www.illarion.de but there was the msg "unknown host". By the way, I do get the same msg if I want to ping Tibia, still I am able to play that game.

My internet connection is a standard 56k modem. I have a direct access to the internet. There is no proxy in between.

I know it does sound quite strange, but it would be nice if someone can help me!

Thanks in advance,

Londarin
