I recently cast a field magic spell from a rooftop onto the ground.  I immediately went to ground-level, and found said field-spell missing.  Is it that spells only affect the level they're on?

I also have experienced this among other things.

I was on the roof and saw a friend. I was only a few feet away though despite my attempts he could only hear me if I shout.

" if you are close enough people hear you and it lists your name, farther it list the typed chat but not the name "couldn't this be used?"
