Something from Nothing

How exactly are we supposed to get anywhere if everyone has nothing? Lets face it the only way new characters get anywhere is by hand outs, but now no one has anything, therefore no hand outs. How are we supposed to get anywhere?
Are there going to be jobs that we can do for npc's, (ones that don't require our own tools either)? If not, there should be.

I am becoming annoyed because a dagger breaks after a fight and a half. How am I supposed to kill anything without a weapon? I fought a pig also, for literally 10 minutes, and I didn't kill it.

Welcome to the world, fellows, this is how I started out about six months ago... without asking for handouts and playing jerks, mostly.
But jokes aside, the current state the game is currently in is very buggy. As I see it, stopping by every now and then will let you face new changes and updates. I saw alot of fast fixes in the short time since the wipe, I'd say this is due to the new scripting language. And I'm already having some good fun starting from scratch again; the roleplaying didn't really suffer too much yet from what I saw, and the gigantic map to explore is quite fun to me.
In short, thanks a ton for the work, to whom it concerns; and keep up the good work. Good luck ironing out all these bugs.
Maybe it should go in the Proposals section, but dear staff, why don't you make a forum section for bug reporting?

I have allready seen a certain elf in game with enough items aquired to hand out long swords, People have allready tested mining etc etc.So it is rather apparent that one can make progress.
Less whine more rp...on the whole i really like the new map and forsee a lot of fun in the future.

If you're referring to me giving a sword to Alavan, that was an act of kindness that cost me way more than I thought it was going to

Trying to hopelessly learn herb lore.
Flies broke my sword after 30 hit attempts.
Now on top of that - stuck in the Inn, and the ladder is biting my health.

Herb lore will be worked out during the next days.
Thus will brewery, goldsmithing, field-working and some others.

much tougher then it was before. and the map is huge and filled with a rediclously large amount of monsters. but yea i lost my money to an ogre. and i can't see any way of making it back in the near future. job implementing would be great at this point i feel. but gotta be patient i guess.
p.s. those are some tough pigs
Greenbriare.. bad on the shoes.

I must say, kudo's on the new map. It's Huge-er-ific. Gotta love searching for a little town on a giant map long enough to break my spirits. No sarcasm meant. The huge map will lead to professional robbers along busy roads, and give enough roomn to get away from entire ARMIES of monsters. In theory..
I haven't fought yet, but I have seen so far that logs are titled specifically by wood (the ones I got were all the same, but had a specific tag. They were from the same trees.) and although a certain tools eludes me, I think it'll work very well.
Graphics look nice, albeit a little buggy for me; graphics being cut off by the north wall, only seeing part of a graphic, ladders being away from their actual teleporters. But it looks nice, and the kinks will be worked out!
I was right about one thing, mass confusion. My character is still flabbergasted how an entire island survies where everyone is poor and there are no workers.

But I like the new faces, as well as BEING a new face. I think this is a GREAT addition, and as soon as it's un-bugged and such, (though nothing is ever perfect) we'll all be very thankful.
Agreement on the sentiment: Less whine, more RP.

I think I'm just going to nuke Ultimate Illarion now. I thought it was hard updating the last time a new client came out(and some parts still arent

). This is insanity
Anyways, I think things will slowly get better in terms of starting out. I actually think its more fun being poor

The new map is awesome! I hear that there are too many monsters but I wandered for about an hour trying to find Trolls Bane and never saw a single monster, just a few NPCs.
I love the chaos though (no sarcasm here), things not working the way they used to and having to guess how to interact with the NPCs. I still haven't figured out how get grapes but I'm guessing a tool may now be needed.
All in all, good holiday fun.

I agree. I think it's pretty funny. The island population has more or less reverted to Bronze age or even further back, where people are trying to figure out how to invent a wheel, fighters are "under-equipped" mostly, and some others continue to play their old characters and talk about older days of the island as if nothing happened (and I might add, with the current map size, some of the old stories from the chronicles make alot more realistic sense now).

Also, no sarcasm meant here either. I like it.

The rpg of things is not that tough either lol..the town councel has all but dissolved in the anarchy of mass immagration some one appears to have stolen most of my belongings.
As social structures, old and new aquaintances and all "crafts" are rediscovered and begin to work. I think the magic will return at speed.
