It was early in the morning as Gwynnether woke up. The sun just rises and the first sunbeams shined through the window. Gwynnether cocked slowly her head to watch John with little Jonathan in his arms. She smiled, though sadly. Soon they will leave this island. Not for a journey, but forever. To ensure Jonathan a better future.
Gwynnether knew that she will never regret this decision, but somehow she had this feeling she would betray this town.
'For the town, the gods and the comrades', she whispered silently to herself. That was the oath she had sworn some years ago now. A lot happend since this oath.
The battles, the leaving of Hagen, the usually town troubles, the loss of many friends because of her duty, the unthankfully reactions of the town people, the Bloodskulls, the marriage, the pregnancy.
She came here as a woman who wanted to forsake the fights, after her uncle died on the battlefield and she couldn't help him. But her heart was the heart of a warrior and she couldn't deny it, as hard as she tried.
"My uncle died on the battlefield", she continued whispering, "like my father and my grandfather... everyone has been a warrior, a soldier or a guard...it seems this the fate of the 'Glanwens'."
Her look gazed to the sleeping Jonathan and she shook her head with a smile. "A warrior, but above all still woman".
Gwynnether stood up without making any noise that could wake her husband or her son. She put on her clothes and just wanted to leave the room, but hesistated. She turned again and wrote a little note on a parchment for John. "I guess the time where I just did what I wanted to do are over.", she thought and chuckled softly while she left the room finally.
The air was cool and therewith a welcome change to the hot days of Bras and the streets of Trolls Bane were empty in this early hours.
Just Eliza and Sam were already awake and of course: working.
She went towards her depot and puts her full armour on and before she left town through the eastgate, she grabbed a second twohanded sword...
"One last time before I leave this island, Malachín. One last time with an enemy who is worth to raise the sword for."
