A little bit frustrating

I don't want to blame anyone, but sometimes it would be very nice if someone would actually play this game instead of writing stuff on the board. I know, we all need the board, but don't forget that there is a game!

Is it because there is a charwipe ahead? Is it because the game sucks? Is it because my quests suck? Is it because it is monday? Is it because of the magenta troll?

With me, there's the feeling that anything I do will be gone within a few days. Feels a little pointless in logging on.

Edit: Seeing no other players online also put me off. I can't stand to play when nobody else is online.

Uhh I totally forgot about the quest today.

Ack. I usually miss quests due to the computer acess and time zones. I am not sure how I missed the post.
I think the character wipe has taken some motivation to play away for some people. How ever as it seems it wont be a comlpete reset of history and characters. I still find more than enough reason to play and more over can still enjoy my rp as Pendar walks around blissfully unaware anything is going to change.
Sorry I missed the quest, I generally enjoy them and always appreciate them.

The only thing that will be gone in a few days are your skills. Not your fun memories.

To be honest Estralis, in my case, I'm not sure.

It could be that I played this game for a couple of years now, and I have nothing else interesting to do, and just burned out...

It could be that there aren't enough people to play with...

It could be because the game seems so limited and restricted in terms of character activity outside of talking...

It could be laziness...

It could be that I just don't feel like it, and I've almost completely lost interest in video games...(seriously, my family now has an X-Box, PS2 and GameCube, but I don't play anything long if at all)

It could be that darn Magenta Troll - anything that pink deserves my utmost avoidance.

I'm not trying to throw fists at this game Estralis. I'm just trying to be as honest as can be.

Maybe we should just take the effort to type in the name, password, and hit return people. If everybody doesn't play because of player scarcity, then nobody will play.

Time zone thing for me. Your quests are usually good. Not the type that needs JUST skill fighting. Heck if i had been here I would have gotten on and done the quest myself if needbe ;).

It is just that I have serveral quests that should be played before the charwipe. There is nothing to gain except fun! No skills, no gold (well, not much at least) but pure RP.

The problem is that the time til the wipe is limited and that my time is also limited. Thus, it is a bit frustrating if so many pay attention to the boards and no one pays attention what is going on ingame.

I think if you hit this link, you will receive an email anytime someone posts an ingame event so you don't miss one.

Sorry, I have been neglecting the forums in the evenings recently so as to spend as much time in game as possible, until yesterday. Now I feel that I have to argue the case for not wiping out the current state of RP, because it is very important to me. That said, I'll be in game in a minute or two. Especially as I still have hope that the wipe isn't going to take the only things I value of my character (which certainly isn't gold or skills).

But the server is down isn't it? Hasn't it been down for a while?

Or am I only checking the status when it seems to go down because I have wierd luck?

The server is up, up, up! The piece of text on the homepage simply says that it's down, when in fact, it's up, if you catch my meaning.

I agree with Donal... Heh, it seems like little point... if it will all be gone in a few days.

But i will still log on periodically...

Hmm! It's rather bland down in the Grey Rose Cell. Maybe if the Magenta Troll would give Ceigan and Ryne a spectacular escape before the character wipe. Who wouldn't want to log in and see that? I'm sure players would come flying in! Eh? *nudge* ^_^

This doesn't completely answer your question Estralis, but these are some of my thoughts.

Sure, pure RP for the joy of the moment is fun and great too, but for me it was always more than just that. For me, the enjoyment comes not only from the moment of play or its memories, but also from knowing it's potential to change the future story of Illarion. Skills and items do have the potential to change the future too, and to me is also part of what you've built up for your character. I get satisfaction from knowing that something I did has made an impact (which does not necessarily happen right away) that will be remembered and become a part of Illarion's legacy that the future generation of players/character will come to know as a history that was left behind by previous generations before them, and that their own will be a part of it someday.

Everytime a character or story makes an impact on Illarion, life is breathed into that character or story. It has value in not only the moment, but also in its very essence that has been etched into illarion history and its potential to change the future outcome of Illarion, thus continuing to live on as a part the never-ending Illarion story. When that life that I've nurtured and grown for so long dies, there's obviously a feeling of loss. To me, I'm building not only for the fun of building itself, but for the joy of knowing that I can keep building on top of what I have already built.

So that's why, if I did login to the game right now, I probably wouldn't care much about playing a story that might have no future. I just probably don't get as much enjoyment from "pure RP" alone as maybe some others do.

Icant make any of your quests during the week on account of school and my timezone. Rest assured if I didnt have school and swim practice from 8 am to 5 pm I would be playing this game and having fun with your quests.

Ladies and gentleman,

I announce that the board is a horrible land filled with the terrible reality that we come to Illarion to escape. Whereas, there, inside the client, there is still a blissful land that feels as though it is home. Go there, and fast, reminisce, and look forward to the upcoming days when something even better will come along.

Illarion will never be maximally perfect, but it always journeys in that direction. The boards, on the other hand, usually stray as far away from that goal as is possible.

Go there, especially when Estralis beckons, for that is when our favorite little island, soon to grow, is at it's best.

For me there are two reasons

1. At work I have LOTS of downtime (call center with low call volume - paradise!) but I can't get a direct connection anyway except the web, even MUDS(ooh, is that a swear word here?) with the same port as the web. Anyhow, that leaves me lots of time to be on boards and no way to play except when I go home when there are lots of other things vieing for my time.

2. If referring to the event yesterday, bad time for me. Landed about 2:PM here and was at work. Of course, you CAN'T make everyone happy on this issue, the players are just spread throughout too many time zones.

With all my love, Estralis, I would definitely be online for every quest if my time permitted :) .

I am at school from about 7:30 to 17:00 every weekday (If traffic isn't bad :P !!) Needless to say, this -- sadly -- cuts into any Illarion time I might have.

I also have parents who are extremely internet-strict. You can just ask anyone who (tries) to talk to me on Messenger. It's really a miracle whenever I can get online at all :P .

I also spend about every evening from dinner until bedtime doing/finishing (guess what) more schoolwork. If there is no urgent schoolwork, then there is always piano. Practice usually takes up about 1-3 hours of my day, total. I can't help it because I'm a piano major.

Bah, I'll stop. Everyone always gives excuses for "why they can't come online ingame", *G*.

EDIT: (Speaking of strict parents  .....)

I'll be Frank. I could not have cared less about the Quest. My motivation is drained. That and the fact the I should be on for quest when I don't know when it is? I dislike standing around alone....waiting for something to happen, that I more than likely should not be in anyway. Neh....so yeah.
