Repeal the Troll Forest Protection Pact?

Posted: Sun Apr 03, 2005 5:30 pm
by Byron
I will list some facts.

The trolls have been attacking the town for days now, even tho we have a peace tready that states if we dont clear their forest they will leave us alone. But they are attacking us anyways... So why are we jailing honest lumberjacks for 'almost' clearing forest when the trolls are attacking anyways?

The trolls dont care about are tready, and if a human strays near their territory, they decide its war.

We need to repeal this edicit in order to, not only increase production of Arrows and other wooden goods, but.. well thats about it. Since we lose nothing becuase the trolls arent holding up their deal.

They only control one forest, and there are several that they dont care for. So if we cut down others that isnt belonging to them, then why would it matter?
Trollsbane wrote: As from recent attacks from the trolls dammages have tallied to about 20 ingots. This covers Buildings, Gates, Craftman Shed, and as offerings of grief for the familys of dead loved ones.
Do you realy want that to happen agian?

Perhaps that is all [trolls] know.
So for you to call things that waged war on Trolls Bane to get a message accross "peaceful heavenly creatures" is plain ludicris.

It's their territory! Why should they put up with anybody going in and cutting down their trees? Would you like it if someone came into your house and destroyed everything with an axe?

Dear Donal,

I see your point of view:
But consider this!

They only control one forest, and there are several that they dont care for. So if we cut down others that isnt belonging to them, then why would it matter?

However in their territory is a runestone that aspiring mages will go to.
And the Forest Trolls do kill those aspiring mages with little hesitation.

But I do not think we should allow lumberjacks to ruin our forests because of it.

The forest will grow back.

Your missing the point.

These trolls are promising PEACE. They arent doing this! We arent doing anything to them!

The trolls don't attack the down. Ceigan Zain Ibatha and his companions lead them into the town.

If this peoples stop leading them into town and no one cut the forests clear, then we don't have to worry about the trolls.

The Trolls will defend their territory if people stray too close.
The trolls only enter town if led there by someone, deliberately in most recent cases.
The Trolls WILL attack IF large amounts of forest are destroyed or cut at one time (meaning without allowing time for regrowth). This is seen as a breach of the treaty on our part.
There are four large areas of forest available for forestry. If these are used wisely there is plenty of wood available for all.

Dear unknown writer,

why should we or the council do that? I do not see your point here. You want to change something diplomatic important for Trolls Bane but you are not brave enough to write down your name?

I don't know why we should trust you. And since the Trolls strolled mostly through town because someone lead them there I don't see why we should change something about the forest protection pact.

The only reason trolls have been found in town is because people have been bringing them in, namely Ceigan and his followers.

Well that doesnt matter.
The trolls are attacking the town, killing people, and we arent killing their forest.

my point is that the trolls arent holding up their end, so why should we?

I have been at that forest safely, as my intentions were not to kill. You can ask confirmation with Caitlin Fergus.

When the trolls chase someone out of their territory, they chase them far to make sure they don't come back. Just because some madmen lured them into town where they found themselves surrounded and confused doesn't mean they are out to get us.

That does matter, Unknown Writer.

The trolls attack the town, because they are lead into. Not one troll would enter the town, if no one enter there territory and the forest aren't clear cutted.

So the trolls hold there end.

You've ignored the fact that mages have been attacked by Forest Trolls while trying to learn from the runestone near the Forest Troll's home.

The runestone is on their territory. So it is the own risk of the mage, who try to learn the rune.

Trolls attack who destroy forests with or without any pact.
So, we protect the forests.

But what are they doing for us?

We, of course, should not transform an etire forest into some arrows. But no law reinforcements will stop the ones who are destroying it. And hunting them down already showed to be an useless way to fix things.
I only see the guards within the town walls, even though the forests too should be protected against these destroyers since if they aren't, the Trolls will attack the innocent again. And the guards answers for the Triumvirate which made the pact. But the entire city pays for the attacks of the Trolls.

And yet, the Trolls attack innocents who didn't touch a single tree due to this pact. If the Triumvirate really wants to protected their people, why keep a pact that is bringing harm to them?

Any mage who is careful and does not intrude further than the stone will not be bothered. If a troll is nearby, show him some courtesy and leave him be. Return to the stone at a later time.

If they came peacefully like the mages do to their land there would be no problem with Forest Trolls roaming our lands.

And what if a Troll isn't lead into town, but follows a mage that just wanted to reach the runestone?

There is nothing that the trolls want in Trollsbane, so why whould we be allowed to just walk onto their land and use the runestone? Should we not do something for them as payment to use it such as planting trees or helping maintain the forest? Maybe by helping them, we can maintain a more peaceful relationship.

The trolls have promised us peace! It doesnt matter if their forest was made of gold trees! They have promised us peice under the condition we dont clear their forest! We havent done that, and they have attacked us. They are obviusly agiasnt us.

And besides that. have you ever seen a troll eat a man alive? Its the most sickening thing ever!

And what are we doing?
I only see the citizens running on replanting trees that were cut just to keep the Trolls away. Trees that weren't cut by them.
Why the Trolls doesn't seek the real murderer of trees?

That is far from the most sickening thing ever. And it is still their land, not ours. We shouldn't even be allowed on it without their permission.

We should limit our mages learning capabilities to appease the bloodlust of the Forest Troll?
I doubt the peace treaty will last much longer as the forest troll seems to know no such thing.

Becuase trolls are mindless and have no more intelligance. I bet they dont even know the terms of what they agreed to!
