People arise!

I think Illarion should try and attract more people to the game. During the hours im awake there is about 0-1 people playing. And what does runescape have? Around 100,000 people on every second? not that runescape is a better game.

You gotta look at the facts:
This is a game NOT skill based. So therefor it must be socialy based or something along those lines, but if there isnt anyone to socialize with then what IS the base?

Im sure there are many people out there that are to die for a game not skill based. Mabey doing something with http://www.mmorpg.com?

"Quality not quantity"

You have to pay for runescape which mean they have the resources to buy good servers which can handle mass amounts on online players.

If Illarion had 100k people on, not only would almost every square be occupied by a player, but they wouldnt be able to do anything because of the lag anyway and it would (probably) crash.

Runescape is free. Only the good servers are paid.

and besides... I dont want 1000000 players. I only want like 10 or something for the hours no one is on.

99% Of the people in Runescape are scum. I don't want any of them in Illarion.

BUT STOP THINKING OF RUNESCAPE! That was only to make a point. Even tho it is scum city of the world it is only to make a point. The game needs a few more players

A promotion campaign (no, no ads at your local TV-station) will start after the introduction of the new client and after the charwipe. Until then, feel free to say other people how great Illarion is and how great it will become.

A good number would be 30-50 players online, on the new map, we will have enough space for everyone. More won't help the game since one can barely interact with so many chars and certain hotspots would be too crowded. Less is what we have now...

And I don't want 99% of all those tibia and runescape players, but 1% of 100.000 are 1000 people. Those I want here.

Actually runescape was free for a long time before they had the member servers. They made money by having advertisers on their website. Illarion people could do this, but I believe they would consider it selling out.

Maybe banner ads, those dont pay as much I dont think, but they arent forcibly asnnoying like popups.

banner ads are too much. I suggest simply talking to the staff at MMORPG.com and suggest some ideas. Mabey even some staff can join the boards and post in their forums? Not like spam. But a nice intelligant post.

Becuase banners are for big games. Like pay-only games. How can college students afford placing adds on the top of pages?

The adds pay you to put them on your website.

Yeah, I meant THEY get money by allowing OTHER businesses to place ads on the illarion site...

I must say this is a very ironic sentence. If no one is on, who are the other 10 XD ??? Perhaps "for the hours no one is [usually] on" ??

At any rate, more players would help. But as Estralis said, only a 30-50 total more. What we want is more players to increase interaction, and therefore a better roleplay environment due to more options.

What we DON'T want is a worthlessly heavier load on the account system GM's, lag from Hell and Beyond, and most of all, crap RP that even now sometimes seeps in and ultimately contaminates the whole operation of things. Most of you know exactly what I'm not directly pointing a finger at  .

Byron, that's a bit of a silly accusation to point towards De'am. She was more than likely referring to people universally recognised as terrible roleplayers and similarly banned players.

But then...who am I to interpret what De'am means.

Thou art our Irish interpreter.

I asked Damien once why we got no banners or popups, just simply imagen you need maybe music or something for getting into your illamood( well i got this, I'm sure others got this too) and then when you want relax and play rp or read some rp Post you see a flashy annoying banner up there and all the flair is simply...gone.
With popups it even would be much worser.

The problem is seeing as all entrys are personally viewed by staff wouldnt that be alot of work on them? I think there should be a few multiple choice questions to enter, not too sure about name acceptance though.
