A piece of parchment is attached to the wall of the shop. It is covered in smudges, drips and small inkmarks. The text is written in a ugly, untidy, unsteady hand that wanders up and down across the page. Almost every line contains letters and words crossed out and rewritten underneath in the same hand. Those who have the patience to decipher it will read:
I Naybet Grint am looking for someone to teach me the old tongue
I wish to learn so that I may better educate myself
Payment can be determined when we meet
