Looking for possible parents...

I found a young, halfling girl, who appears to be mute, begging for food outside the market tonight. She is now sleeping, soundly in a room in the Seahorse, which I have provided for her, and well-fed.
I post this to find out if she has any known parents. If not, she shall be taken in by Caitlin Fergus and myself, to be cared for properly.
Your Servant,
Moskher Heszche

And what a child it will grow up to be in that case. A spellcasting druidess, with every evil crow by her side? Will be an interesting sight to see sir Moskher.

And your parents, Misjbar?
When I look at your sense of tact and your logic it must have been ogres. Though I don't intend to insult ogres here, when I compare them with you, mind you.

Go hug your crow Caitlin. I think you must be glad the halfling is mute. She would probably scream at you if she had the possibility.

Oh, sorry, I'm not the orc here.

You are quite right, Misjbar, I would agree. We would make horrible parents. Instead I shall look for a Bonelord-worshipping cursed elf-cum-orc who slithers in through the cracks of the town walls to wage war with notes.

No blessings from Moshran for you then. Maybe you should boil yourself, might remove all the stench.

If no parents will be found, I am sure the girl is by Caitlin and Moskher in good hands.
Not like in yours, Misjbar. You haven't even the skills to take care of a stone with a face painted on it.
May Irmorom bless the poor thing that it lands in the right hands, best when they are not green, right Misjbar?

Mine are white sir Galim. I wear gloves, to stop from touching filthy creatures like you. Anyhow, no, I do not take good care of halfling children(nor human). I think they are dirty, and not half as civilized as elves their age. Maybe I will capture her for some sacrifical rituals. Would prove quite interesting sir Galim, thank you for bringing these lovely ideas into me.

That is strange, that there is a mute halfling girl around town. I recently took note of a mute elven woman roaming the streets not long ago as well. Perhaps there is some kind of connection between the mute woman and the mute halfling girl? I believe the name I found from the mute elven woman was "Selena" or something to that effect, though my mind is hazy of the event that took place. Keep me posted in the matter, as I would like to look into this further as well. I fear I would be horrible at raising a child, other than teaching one of tranquility and peace, rather than the skills that are essential for these times.
Yours,
Cain Freemont

We are not looking for someone to adopt the child. We are looking for her original parents. Sparing that, we shall be adopting her ourselves.
Your Servant,
Moskher Heszche

I understand this and was merely commenting based on the other seemingly unimportant discussions going on. I would look into the matter of the two mutes, however. I simply find it odd that these two have shown up at similar times.

Cain,
Slyveria has been around for a long time, and he muteness was caused by an accident.

Sylveria inaudibly giggles at Cain's mismemory of her name. With a piece of coal she etches in "Sylveria" lightly next to the "Selena" written on the parchmet. Scanning further down, she grins and does likewise to Moathia's message. Next she draws an arrow from Moathia's part to an empty area near the side and twirls out with the coal:
Code: Select all
<---.
\
`------ Moathia speaks the truth, Sylveria has been here
many moons! But no accident, Moathia, only hate
for Sylveria [frowny face drawn here]
The young elfess dusts the light coal dust from her fingers and re-reads several of the previous messages again. She scratches her head and turns for the Seahorse Inn with a very curious expression on her face.

I see, so Sylveria has been around sometime. And I thought I knew the people of this land well. Ah well, I suppose I will have to learn a whole slew of things before I can consider myself the knowledgeable one I once was.

A dirty piece of parchment is pinned under the others. Something is written on it with a handwriting which is hard to make out.
My dear Caitlin,
I would enjoy having a child with me. Since I left the castle of the greys my life is boring and miserable. My mistress and I will care for the poor thing like we care for all of our children. You know you can trust me, my dear child.

As Moskher already wrote, Amelie, we are searching for the childs real parents, not for someone who would adopt the girl.
As long as the real parents aren't found, we will take care for her.

What a pity, my dear. Are you sure you're old enough to raise a child?
And you're not even married! How could the child be sure that Moshker will stay with you? It would be terrible for the poor little girl to be torn away from him.

Two witches arguing, though I must agree with old and senile Amelie. Aren't you a little young? And what if your affairs (Yes, rumors spread quickly here) would take your upcoming marriage with Moskher Heszche apart? Would not be a pleasant sight to see for the mute halfling.
Maybe you should decide to give up the halfling for adoption, before thinking of putting her with yourself. Such an instable relation is not the way such a female should be put in. I thank you in advance.
~Misjbar~
P.S I could take care of this halfling. I have the money to take care of her.

Ah my cute Misjbar, we both know that you can't care for a child. You would even kill your own to satisfy your dark lord.

Galim! How dare you insult my Pete! We have been getting along famously for many moons now and yet there are still those of you who would make fun!
Pah!

Ah, you saw right through me sir Amelie. Oh, forgive me, miss Amelie. Anyhow, yes, a sacrifice is always a good sign. Maybe with some of my more gruesome rituals, I could even invite a few people.
Caitlin, if you are interested, I always like a bat with mail from time to time.

As are you Amelie.
And may I quote someone here?
"Love and hate....but a thin line divides them"
May I point out, I hate this quote. I believe hate is something totally different. I hope people realize it before children begin popping up like rabbits, and arguments burn down the world.

P.S. I'm looking for a hairdresser. I will pay 10 gold an hour for a good hairdresser.

Um, pete? Please explain yourself about this, Bei.
Amelia, you are a wellknown and wrongminded whorshipper of cherga, who was seen many times searching a victim for your missguided idea to make a sacrifice to Cherga. And now, after you just got free from the castle of the grey rose, where you was jailed necause of your connection to the dark happenings around Trystan, you want to adopt a poor little child? The child would be more safe thrown into a pit together with a rotworm.

It is Amelie, my dear Galim.
And you're wrong. I changed. I had a long time to think over my life. My mistress is still my mistress but I worship her like she deserves it now.
And I didn't sit in the castle of the grey because of Trystan. I was completely innocent. They said I had to stay there because I convienced someone to kill Caitlin. But even she visited me and forgave me. They all know that I'm innocent. And when they have listened to me, they even could have rescued another innocent. Poor girl..didn't deserved it to die.
