He who controls the Town Guard

The letter is still fresh, the ink still slightly damp as Cain posts the message on the wall. He hopes it reaches the eyes of the leader of the Town Guard soon, as he does not know who now leads it, due to his long absence. The message itself is written elegantly, in a script that only an elf could perfect, and the meaning behind the writing is much more important than that of the letter's graceful appearance and rather brief nature.

I would humbly request that you, he who harnesses the Town Guard, privately have a messenger deliver a letter to me. I would much like to speak with you and setting a meeting place in secret would be ideal.

A signature rests just below the contents of the message, in a practiced, almost reflex of a motion.

I believe you wish to speak with John Irenicus. Mind you, you will be talking to a deaf ear. This man isn't available for silly talk, he only let's his sword speak.

You are right, I am not available for silly talk, like your paper here is. The only reason I am responding is the way you typed my name, it is John von Glanwen.

I am not mistaken. The male never takes the name of the female. This is an intrusion of traditions. But who am I to say such things.

Seer, the Von Glanwen's are human nobility, therefore the commoner John-Sorry John- married into them, he takes the noble family name, unless he himself is nobility which he is not as far as I am aware. It makes no sence on this island, but I suppose that name hold sway in other parts of the world.

Ridiculous ways of tradition here. I believe that if she choses to marry someone not of nobility, she loses nobility herself.
Maybe the ways of the mainland should be lived by here. Perhaps not.

If you were truly a seer, you would see that you are an idiot and should stop commenting on the affairs of others.

Indeed! You are quite a rambunctious idiot! It would do you and us some good if you stuffed your mouth with apples and tried to swallow!

Hrmph, and as for those who be making fun of the guard... Im not crazy about them, but they DO always fight for us, and many times, they even die for us.

They don't even get paid - they do it for free, and for that, i have great respect for them.

What you call tradition is nothing but inventions of the age of isolation, the latest age of Illarion. They are traditions of mortals, made of discort, suppression and arrogance. Search for true tradition much further back in the dawn of ages, as if you wish to look into the future, many questions are answered in the past.
