Question (noobie)

Heh I tried to find them in the search system of the forums but didnt...
1) How do I learn new skills? (will they just appear when I start mining or doing something)
2) Is there a real skill limit (max skill number)

1) You perform a task multiple times and you will learn the skill the task goes with.
example: Mine ores you will learn Mining.
2) Of course there is a max you can learn. But from noobie to ultra master will take you a long time.

No he would still take forever because there is a skill cap inwhich you can only learn so much of a skill before having to rest for a while.

Ok. Thanks.
But is there anyone who did learn all skills?

Im sure there has been in the past...
But keep in mind, this is a role playing game, and for someone to know all skills would not be very good at role playing..

No, escpecially since you cannot learn magic and druidism. Also, you main focus shouldnt be on skills.

Find that out in game.

Ore can usually be found ... where again? Not on trees

The tools for mining are somehow "unrealistic", so, better ask an experienced miner how it is done. It is fairly easy.
What Nilo wants to tell you, these things are nice things to get started in Illarion; start a conversation with a miner (most of them are small, have long beards and drink beer all day long)! Maybe even become his apprentice! Join a party of exploreres who explore the dungeons of the island!
And believe me, it is the fastes way to get knowledge, ask other characters ingame.

OR
become a highwayman and take the ores defenseless miners dig.

Or you could always go to
Ultimate Illarion.

heh
I was twice told to go east from the capital city and twice I did not find anything!
hmmm
even died once!
It does not help me as a beginner miner!

I have to disagree here. The amount of skills a character is good at has no relationship with the role playing ability of the player. Perhaps the character is ambitious, and likes to be a jack of all trades? (Such a truth would
require ambition, because I myself have little motivation for mastering one skill let alone multiple ones)
So go ahead, gain skills but gain skills in a role playing sense, and have more fun role playing.
Edit: Sordelka,
It's very hard for an absolute newbie to start a trade right away. The safer, steady way for your character to get started is to find a weapon to kill pigs. The pigs have meat on them, and, if cooked, they can be sold to Eliza for small amounts of coins.
The reason you may want to do this is because it gets fairly expensive to continue buying tools that will break many times over - it's probably impossible without an alternative source of income.
Other than that, it's best to find out things in game. I'm aware that it could be difficult to find a teacher of anything, but don't distress.
I might pop in with a character I don't use often, who I dubbed "the teacher." (Mind you, he isn't very skilled in anything, but he just happens to know a lot of stuff)

If a Character knew how to smith everything, carpenter everything, make every potion, tailor everything, Farm perfectly, bake perfectly, herb lore, lumberjack, and mine perfectly, goldsmith perfectly, gem cut perfectly, fish perfectly, and so on.... You think that would be good rp?

Yay =) thx for help...
still two questions :
1) How to cook raw hums found on pigs?
@) How to sell skins (if they can be sold)

You need to use it with something. Just look around what looks like it has to do with preparing food.
Eliza (the lizard) doesn't buy skins. You can sell them to other player chars though.

Okay it is cool now! I understand almost everything exsept magic...
It is difficult to find a teacher in game...so I was wondering if I could learn runes by my-self...I read the magic book in the library (but it did not give me any runes or where to get them!)...so I went exploring, but again I failed. Did not even get to a new city, and I do not know where a mage lives!

It wouldn't be good or bad role play. I'd classify such a character as an "artist of life" or something like that.

I mean, there's little stopping people in the actual world from being very good at multiple things - some people are.

Yeah, my posting was a little off topic.
Do you generally get in game at a time when lots of people are on? Or off?

I prefer to get on when there aretons of people online, because this game is pretty boring when there is no one online.
