Hello,
For some reason, I cannot learn the skill Herb Lore. Im not sure why, but i can't learn it. I herb lore'd about 140 firnis, and about 40 strawberries... and I still do not have the skill.

Can someone help me? I dont even have the skill on my "Craftmanship Skills" list yet... I think i would have it by 140 firnis blossums...

If your character is a brute he won't learn skills outside of fighting very quickly. I think anyways.

Well i know that, and considered in his creation.

Hes not a brute.. he does have intellegence...

But i dont know why i couldn't learn herb lore...

I thought herb lore was in another section from Craftsmanship, unless that has changed in my absence?

And regardless of whether or not that's the case. I don't know if you've noticed this or not, but skill gain is in-fawkin-sanely difficult. It has been for a year or two, unfortunately.

Well my character ain't the brightest but he learnt herb lore (which comes under Craftmanship skills) very quickly. You could be on the wrong end of a random element, or it might be linked to some other attribute. How is your character's Perception?

That's weird, wait, no no.. now I remember. Okay, no more confusion. Whew. Sorry to intrude in the thread.

I would say the best bet is to hope you have high perception, like Naybet says, if nothing else is working for you, anyway. Or it really is the skill gain difficulty.

It's not skill gain difficulty, it probably is his perception. My character has learned herblore just fine, and he has high perception.

My orc, who has the perception of 3, learned it too.... and is expert at it.

Durin has 4 perception at least...

I dont think thats it but maybe it is...

Odd, my character's perception is minmal. He can't find yellow weeds yet he learned herb lore fairly quickly. I think the only reason you wouldn't be learning it is if both intelligience and perception are rock bottom.

My character learned herb lore while he was helping someone after the first 30 firnis. He was wearing a ring though, but 140 firnis needs no ring to make you learn it.

I too was wearing a ring...

I dont really know. My intellegence (im REALLLY sure) is about 12... and my perception is at least 4...

Let me put it this way. I can kill pigs with my crossbow, but i cannot learn herb lore.

Or it could just be one of those faults. Cliu can't make wine for some reason as some of my other characters.
