Signs in Trolls Bane - according to "Lloyd's guide to newbie

Hiya,
Once i wrote a post about signs before all buildings:
http://pc-cad0.informatik.unibw-muenche ... &topic=348

Now i read Lloyd's post:
http://pc-cad0.informatik.unibw-muenche ... 95&start=0
which i find very wise.

Lloyd mentioned many ingame rules made by the player and GMs, that most of the players know, but newbies mostly don't, foir example:

- no casting in town
- no powergaming in town
- no non-roleplaying killing
- no logging-out when attacked
also i like this Lloyd's sentence: "Pick a role and stick with it".

So according to boths threads i have this idea. Lets make special signs on the walls of the library (near the place where newbies apear - meaning to take out a few bookcases so they could see the signs) and write these rules on them. So every newbie coming into the game will read them and be warned to get deleted if he doesn't apply to them.

Also maybe there are a few more rules that should be placed on these signs but i dont remember them now... :-)

i dont disagree with signs, i think that would be nice in town you know...

but what if i came into the game, know nothing about it other than some of the rules ive read in the manual, if i choose not to read the signs thinking they are simply for looks or telling you this is a library, and i cast a spell of attack on a apple tree, a Lloyd will come along and slice me to bits........ Perfect reason for  that attack is not  only was it illegal, there was a SIGN.

The sign says, horses DRINK THE WATER!! OR YOUR GOING TO DIE OF THURST!
...will all the horses still drink?
its still the matter of choise... you CANT stop their choise...
if their intent is to cause chaos or try, they will.
if they are just curious and want to experiment THEY WILL!:o

Theres a song called Signs, where it talks of this predicament...
Like in Graal, it will easily tell people rules, but lowers the roleplay.
Will this be needed after we implement the E-mail system?
Think about it.

LOL hahaha :-))) Chyan, you made me laugh a lot saying about the horses, thats a good one :-))

@Chyan, sure i know it wont stop everyone doing these things, but i believe it would lower amount of these things happen.

@Erdrick: hmm, i will try to read the email system thread again, but as i remember most of it was in german so i have no idea what this email system is for. I mean, i know that it will help keeping only the real roleplaying people here, and wont let the 'runescape' or 'tibia' kind folks get in, but thats almost all i know...

It's a bad idea to tell OOC Rules ingame. Also there's something wrong, Powergaming isn't allowed at all!!! Not even in the wilderness. The text which appears in the beginning is ok I think, people who don't follow the rules before playing, just deserved to be deleted, if they violate them. The e-mailsystem also won't keep away the Tibia and Runescape guys, you shouldn't say that ALL are bad, I've seen some good RP and play Tibia myself.

@Tatonka: yes i know not all of them are bad, i just meant the bad ones of them :-)

Any way i dont stick to this rules-signs idea. I wanted to discuss it and see what you think :-)

I'm not sure what exactly is the email system about, although as far as i know and as i imagine it, i believe it will help a lot :-)
