The Southern Forest: Beware

Citizens,

Please be aware that there has been a lot of recent troll activity in the southern forest.

Please do not cut down trees there: in fact we need someone to plant more. That would be most helpful!

Also, a dwarf cut down trees in the south and caused trolls to come to town. Whoever cut the trees down, please do not continue!!

I have a feeling that no dwarves are very welcome down in the forest...

This is incorrect,
There is no need to fear cutting trees in the southern forest, but when you destroy the trees like they were earlier the Forest Trolls will come to seek vengeance.
The Forest Trolls did not attack the town, they roamed the southern forest looking for the lumberjacks who abused the forest so.
Please do not ruin the forest like it had been done earlier today.

Truely,

When the first trolls attacked, I was confused. I am still somewhat confused as to the events that led to the trolls to come. My husband was with me as I was chopping lumber outside of town when we heard a roar. There was a troll coming at us, then there was a battle. I don't know what happened then, I was suddenly on the ground looking up at my husband. There was a troll outside rebuilding the forest. But my husband and I did not dig up any roots, I swear on my life I would never dig up roots like that. I saw no dwarf anywhere. I am confused as to the exact events and would like to speak with anyone who was there. I am guilty of chopping lumber but my husband and I had nothing to do with digging up roots.

In general the southern woods are useable for an intelligent cutting of trees.

But i agree with Druin. Within the next days lumberjacks should not work in the southern woods - for their own security. It need some time, that the trolls calm down again and go back in their own woods.

But i`m interested. Who was the dwarf who was hunted by the trolls? He has to be punished for that what he did!

----------------------

At the moment, there is no need to punish anybody. I urge the townspeople and wood workers to heed the advice, and find a new location to continue their work. There is plenty of room on this island, and not being able to go where undead and trolls roam is more than acceptable by my standards.

Trolls have a life sweetheart. Expect them to live it. And, on a sidenote, maybe the Troll was rather hungry, and dragged the lumberjack fellow back to his lair. Those things happen, though world.
Gobaith isn't the place it used to be. Back in the days elves could atleast contain all this madness.

"At the moment, there is no need to punish anybody."

Thats a joke i hope!

Yes it was a proposal to keep the peace between us and the trolls. If you really want to visit the southern woods within the next days, prepare your security yourself.

But, if i see anyone who acts againt our laws, which says "don`t cut all trees of a wood" he will be jailed! And this one, who is the reason for the new attack by the trolls has to be punished! Who he is?

Lennier,

I am not codding. I feel that his assault from the trolls was frightening enough, and it would be superfluous to punish him. Conflict can be avoided, therefore it is a wise course of action not to throw away such an opportunity over an agreement with creatures that carry more clubs than brains.

Do not underestimate the forest trolls. They are very unlike their cousins, stone-trolls or cave-trolls, who indeed can be as slow-minded as the most ogres.
Trees in the southern woods should not be cut if they stand close to each other. Also, the trolls seem to have sacred trees in the forest.

Upon my travels, I have encountered the sheep. They were all slaughtered, creatures that I could barely identify under the blood and muffled wool.

I suspect the ogres are responsible for these slayings. Perhaps they will stop their damaging actions if we show more reverence toward the southern forests.
