Instrument skills

Im sure this has been proposed, but I couldn't find it...

SO Here it is:

I propose that we make skils for different instruments. It could fit under 'Bard' skills. Though it may not cause damge, it would still be nice.

Make it to where not everyone is good at an instrument when they start off. :wink:

You could a few things: get some skill by learning in the library, and then some by playing...

Of course you cant make it TOO hard a skill because you dont want someone to just be sitting there playing badly over and over to get better.

Anyway this isn't so much for fighting, but for Fun and RP.

:lol: maybe the skills could be like:
Harp
Lute
Flute
Horn

I think this would be really fun and cool.
(something for Cliu :lol:)

I think it would be nice for musicians to strive for some skill. I think this would encourage players to play musicians as well. They could be hired for events and such. Now we just need sounds that go with the instruments. :D

Yes and instead of always ahveing "Someone plays a wild tune on a flute" If they are new it might be "Someone makes horrible squeaking sounds on a flute" :wink:

Yes Ules, very good.

Thanks Elastris. I realize that it can't happen REAL soon but it shouldn't take too long to implement, assuming you do.
I think it might take 10 min. for the script of it... Anyway.

The sounds could come later of course, it would require a couple of sounds per instrument.

Perhaps, (this is a bit far-fetched) you could get all the tunes of a master musician to kind of go together, so it sounds good :P

Well that would take practice among players to form a band. They could always have a conductor person to cue certain instruments. I don't think making horrible/bad/good/very good sounds would be too hard for a bunch of instruments. After setting up my microphone and microsoft movie maker (free), I could make it in some minutes. This is assuming I know how to play an instrument. There is a keyboard here, but my sound doesn't work so. :(

It would be interesting for the instruments to vary in skill.Wouldn't take too long for Ules to master the harp sinc ehe can make it. You basically would have a feel for an instrument if you made it yourself :D :lol

yes however since this is a game, and you would have to write a script for that, let's not get that deep into it. :wink:

Lets try to keep it surface by just having skill.

Oddly, I dont like this that much. I just think this will make people sitting around and playing...just flooding the server. I think this should wait until bard magic is implemented. I like pure rping it instead of clicking for hours until I am a master to make me a bard. Even though Bard Magic sounds interesting...I am not eagerly awaiting it. If I were to find out Bard Magic would never be implemented I wouldn't even care.

I have to agree with Cliu. Being a bard is supported by good, I should say GREAT roleplay, not skills. Because that is what makes bards so desirable, and great. Not because of their skill with the instrument, but of the beauty or funnyness of their roleplay.
