Client stops responding then creating new char

I have downloaded the client and extracted all files to my D:\ drive, but when i trie to create a char, i fill in all stuff and click the create button, though nothing happens, the program just stop responding, so i have to use ctrl+alt+delete and abort the client, Heeeeelp!!!!
