Old Characters

Hello!
A couple years ago I had created a character for the Illarion client and have recently made a small visit to the homepage once again. The forum (which looks a little different from the last time I was here) still holds old usernames, correct? If so, would that mean that players can log into the server with old characters (I assume my character still exists)? Otherwise I would have to create a new one, yes?
Although I don't remember my password, I was told I could send an e-mail to a GM to retrieve it. Is this true? I still remember my character name and use the same e-mail I used to create the character, but who would I discuss this situation with: accounts@illarion.org or a GM?
I assume this doesn't matter, but I post this just to be safe.
