A fairly thin, but tall man sits in the library, glued to a long, black book, seemingly uninterested with the outside world, as if it doesn't exist. He takes out a quill and some ink, and begins to jot down some notes. Continually his eyes dart from the book back to the paper, where he then writes something, and then repeats the process. He seems to flip through the same pages many times, as if he was attempting to decode something. Every once in a while he groans and hits the table, scribbles something out, and continues. In a low tone he says "I really hope this works correctly."

After he is finished with the book, he places it back into the bookshelf, and heads over to a nearby depot. He shoves several items into his bag and sets off, searching through town. He mutters to himself "All I need now is to find Gannon or Aryllis, and then i can begin.",and then dissapears into the darkness

Later he is seen recieving a set of items from someone, and then whisping away. He heads towards cross-like formation and begins to meditate. He begins to take an item out of his bag, long in shape, with a strange design at the tip. He rests the tip on the middle of the structure.

Nothing happens.

He gives a sigh and takes out the next of the set of items, and repeats the process, with the same results. He does it with each item, and then begins to get angry as nothing happens, and yells into the sky"What am I doing wrong?!!" He then gathers up the items into his bag and lies on the ground, looking up. Angry thoughts flow through his mind, and he becomes angered even more. To stop himself from commiting evil acts, he goes north and slays some undead, not even collecting anything they held. After this he posts a notice on a nearby wall in a tavern:

"Help required. 5 staves, cross-rock, no results.

Anyone who can help will understand what this means

He then sets off to make camp for the night, still angered.
