I know this is kinda silly, but how about something else that lives in the water besides trout and grey fish. Why not be able to catch things like...hmm....snapping turtles, that would then attack you. Just kidding about the attacking part. How about just turtles, other types of fish, or even bottles with things in them (like finding a message in a bottle). Or even bring back the lamps one could fish out.

My grandmaster fishing seems almost pointless anymore. I tried using it as a RPing aspect. Yet no one was impressed by being able to fish a lot of the same fish, worth nothing.

You should be able to fish for lizards.

Shouldn't lizards as a default be expert fishers?

Not necessarily, but I suppose the majority of the lizardfolk would.

I don't think Velin made a bad proposal here, as NOBODY will buy fish. Neither NPCs, nor player characters.

Things that, IMO, could also be fished out of water:
• salmon
• logs
• buckets
• empty bottles
• boots
• gloves
• pants
• shirts
• horned helmets
• fishing poles
• decayed daggers
• fireswords

If would be fun to fish different fish from different locations. Or pull out a giant squid you have to kill for ink...

Giant squid as a monster maybe. But from a little fishing pole? I hope not.

You couldn't drag a giant ANYTHING on shore with those dinky fishing poles, but say you hook a squid in the eye with the hook, wouldn't he get mad and jump up and attack?
I think little things like this should be added, it would be something "new" and would bring more to fishing I bet for a while (because everyone will want to see it..). Skills being expanded should be one of the top priorities, and adding different kinds of fish (changing their colour, making "Green fish, Blue fish, etc etc" would even work) or other random object, like Sian said, that could be fished wouldn't take that long to implement I'm sure. As for the other things, monsters that attack while fishing... well... I'm not sure about that, but it's not that bad an idea. It would make even fishing interesting.

Why in the name of God would anyone fish anywhere where there was a chance of poking a Giant Squid in the eye and it JUMPING out and attacking you during your leisurely sit by the riverbank. How many times have you gone fishing and had to fight for your life against everything you catch?



The system is great. Different fish would be nice.
Killer One Poked Eyed Jumping On Shore (or KOPEJOS for short) squids should not be considered.

It could get a lot worse than a giant squid.

For example, they could make it so you could accidentally catch Cthulhu, but only when the stars are right.

How about we just give illarionites concussion grenades and they can harvest pointlessly huge amounts of fish? I am rather sure they are working to give illarion a wider variety of fish. Catching fish doesn't take a genius or a lifetime of dedication. Catching super-duper-rare fish however does. I think we need bait for fishing, this way people cannot catch 100 fish a day just by standing next to the water. A general bait for common fish, like worms, and other baits like mayflies. Rare baits made from rare insects or something. Also, small fish like minnows near the shore could be caught with a simple net for bait.

This would give some sort of reason to the flies in the swamp other than an annoyance. When they die, one could use them as bait.

ya... you kill the flies and they are bait... Great Idea!

Perhaps when there is more to catch we could have different baits for different fish. Bread for some, flies for others and meat for yet more.
