My client keeps logging me out of the game. At first it was only once in a while, but just today it started doing it about every 5 minutes. I have windows xp and, yes, i have tried reinstalling the clinet. Please help.

Have you recently installed Windows XP Service Pack 2? If so, there are a few threads about this topic in existance already. I'd say your best bet is to search the forum.

Im not familiar with 'service pack 2' but you do still have usernames don't you?

Are you limited account or administrator?

If your administrator, try illarion on a limited account,
and if you are limited account try it on administrator...

It's a farfetched thought, but sometimes my (stupid) computer does that... I have win.xp so....

Just try if it doesnt help.. sorry :P

Oh.. okay... sorry..

It might just be a setting with your firewall or something...

I dunno, just look at your internet settings and firewall settings.

Is it every 5 minutes on the dot? or just around that amount...?

No, it is just at seemingly random times. Not when others log in, as was the problem in another topic. Sometimes around five minutes, twice or maybe three times in a row, other times i can go smoothly for up to an hour.
Another thing, whenever i close illarion, i get that message thing saying that the program has had an error or something rather and must close blah blah...would you like to send a report.

Do you have any other programs running in the background?
I get similar problems sometimes (At least the "must be closed" messages when the client closes) but usually only when some other software uses a lot of my PCs computing resources.

just the antivirus, and maybe some other antispyware programs.

I just want to bring attention back to this problem some of us are having here. It seems that it'll log me out after the first 5 minutes or so and then it'll usually run nicely for an hour or so (i usually don't get to be only for much longer than this at any one time). Unless i've been on for a short time i'll get the "do you want to send error" message after i log off.
If there is anyone who can help please do, it is not getting any less anoying.
Thanks

I'm getting the send error message.
Although, it doesn't happen very often.

The problems here are two, if I'm not mistaken:
a ) You keep getting kicked from the game server at random times—approx. 5 minutes, normally, but sometimes you can play up to an hour
b ) You get a "Send error"-message when you log-off with the client (as in "Report the error to Microsoft"?)

I'm sure people could help you quicker if you detailed certain information:
• Your machine's setup
• Your exact OS
• Your internet connection

Did you ever try to disable the anti virus software while playing?

I've had my anti-virus on befoer and it never did this. It's just a recent thing and growing more tiresome by the booting.

Did you patch the antivirus recently?

Same thing, but seemingly nothing has changed on my comp recently that I've been told of,
OS: Windows XP
Programs in the background: Firewall, Antivirus, Internet connection, a few windows related things that are always there

Firewall: Standard level
Antivirus: Autoprotect disabled

It's XP's fault.
Curse it!

I have xp home edition as i stated in the origional post, some kind of external firewall thingy (that is really the technical name ), Norton antivirus, an intell pentium 3 processor, 797 MHz, and 384 MB of RAM.
I have not tried running it with the antivirus off yet, i will though. But i think it should work with it running, i mean i need my computer protected all the time.
Does any of this help?

Upgrade the proccessor on that machine. With so much RAM, and such a puny proccesser, you're bottlenecking your PC.

Does any of you have Service Pack 2 installed? That might be the problem, because I have had the same. I immediately uninstalled the stupid "upgrade"(more like...downgrade) Because none of my games would run. So if you are experiencing problems, maybe look at that for a second.
I'm not totally sure that is it, but it could be

What is Service Pack 2?

Windows Service Pack 2.
It has been recently released by Microsoft to close some holes in his OS (Windows). But it isn't compatible with some programs/games. That is why I did not install it, as many others. Although if you have none of these programs, it could be just fine to install it (And no, I do not have a list with what programs work with it, and what programs do not)

Where do you get the Pack from?

by Lysu Davanum
You get it through Windows Update (Which is on your computer. With me it is nearly completely automated, but if you really want to find it, and have Windows XP, go to Start, then Configuration Screen, and then on the left you see Windows Update. And if you let it check your system, it will probably come with the update)

Well how do I get rid of it?

You can go to Software in the same Configuration Screen, and search Service Pack 2 up, to uninstall it there. That is how it is with me anyhow.

I don't see anything that says software...
