Ghosts

This is a simple proposal.

Ghosts can go through density. (density means walls, over water, through any obstacle.)

Since they are formless and have no matter... it would only make sense.

Anyways, it may not be "scriptable" i dunno.

The problem that players then could reach places which shouldn't be reached by players.

They do? really? My ghosts can't...

I guess I didnt think of that. Maybe they can go through walls but not over water or something?

WEll, if they were a spirit, would it matter if they reached those places? It is not like they could do a whole lot there and if the gms were busy trying to do something...just poof them away

Yes maybe they can crash the server if they are there where noone should be?

thats true, what about ghosts that people can walk through, it's pretty annoying when a player dies then goes AFK while standing in front of the bridge or a latter. especially if your being chased by something, then you have to push the ghost (which isn't to realistic) out of the way. thats just my thought though

Gm's that aren't ghosts can go through density too if they want. :wink: Maybe just they can go through other players? That way they cannot block or be blocked.

Well..how about this:

Charectors can walk through Ghosts and Ghosts can walk through Charectors, but Ghosts cannot walk through walls or over water

I'd agree with Drogla. You know why?

During the ogre attack and in the lower level of Darlok's castle, I encountered this as a serious technical weakness. And because people were a level higher in the castle, the ogres swarmed around the stairs connecting both levels. So of course we were stuck down there as ghosts, until someone up top moved a bit, and the horde followed their movement below, so we could finally mosey a way through. Which is particulary annoying, because the moment we swung down we were both dead. In other words, we were sitting around as ghosts for minutes because the swarm of ogres hardly budged and we couldn't pass through them.

Just some food for thought.

Only thing is, if a ghost goes on top of another char, the other char's avatar disappears, and you'd have to push yourself to see him again...

Also, Ghosts shouldnt go over water, but through other densities... maybe not walls, but rocks and hedges and millstones and those kinds of things would be nice...

I think they need to make it so Ghosts aren't encumbered!!! :x

Ex: Rocks and forest grounds.

Do we really need this ghost-walks-through-character-and-vice-versa feature?

Would be a lot of work to separate clipping (means detection of collission) between characters and clipping between non-character objects and players.
