Castle Grey Rose Tiles

Post by Domitrio »

I am not sure which Forum this should go in, but seeing as it is a technical problem with a tile, I believe that it should go in this forum. Many characters, evil characters mostly, but characters none the less are barred from areas in the island by the walls of the Grey Rose. I ask the GMs to make it possible to get around the island without having to go through town. If the guards In Game, have banned your character, you should, if you want to, be able to stay away from town. It is, in a sense, forced RP to make a character have to go against the rules of his/her ban, to get to another area, and it puts an extra strain on the player to try to cheat his way around. Is there any way this could be "gotten around"? I ask this for the GMs, and for players who wish to contribute positive ideas and comments, not for people who want to argue and flame. If that is at all possible, thank you for your time for reading this, I leave it up to you GMs.

Hmm, interesting maybe would could

1. build a bridge across the river somewhere
2.tear down that stupid tiny wall ;)

The last one is my fav.
3.Maybe their could be a underground passage used by the "outlaws"/"rouges" thats hidden or something

but then the guards would find it and have someone down there 24/7

You're looking at it like an IG problem. If it were there would be an IG solution, such as being able to scale the walls with a rope, or there being a cave. It's not an IG problem, we need an OOC solution. And anyway, the guards would have no power outside of the town, if we were underground we would be in no ones kingdom.... well, maybe Silverbrand.

MWHAHA

Dom, you have to fix the problem some how and i dont think the gms want to have to make a new system of scaling walls so they could just make a passage ;) and let us use it ;)

Well there have been attempts to fix it, the boat idea for one. I can't say if it's good RP or not, but it WAS an RP to fix a problem that the system can't fix for itself. Isn't that what players are always told they NEED to do. This thread wasn't supposed to be a discussion per say, it was supposed to be a springboard for ideas to fix this problem. We know that there is one, so how do we get it fixed?

We could ask Grey Rose IG to let us have passage through their castle, and pay for it, or ask the Farmer's Union for a bridge or something. I'm sure we could pool enough money to buy a bridge tile.

Damien answered the boat question unforntunately Dom and Misj were spammtastic at the moment he did, he even questioned that anyone was listening to him. He said (I don't quote this) that the trees were unsuitable for boat building, therefore you COULD NOT build boats from them.

me and Misj we're the only ones spamming Gro'bul, and I was talking to Martin privately most of the chat anyway. My questions kept getting skipped over even when I had my hand up, so Alora and I struck up a conversation. The boat question was answered for boats being an item, not for them being RPable. but that has nothing to do with the walls at grey rose anyway.

The problem I think is that your problem is not a problem at all. Grey rose castle was put their strategically. Get a large band of theives and evil people and maybe you can buy a bridge or tunnel? I don't really see a problem, only an annoyance. If your character has a logical means to get across, I don't see why contacting a gm is out of your league.

FINALLY AN ON TOPIC POST! Thanks Gro'bul. But would everyone complain about a tunnel? "You can't do that, then the bad guys will have a chance!" Thanks again tho, I'll talk to the GMs..

The problem is see uprising is (depending the GMs let you destroy the wall), that some days later the wall could have been reconstructed.

So you are running in circles.

The only real solution to this problem for the players is a final word from GMs.

By the way, this Topic should be located in the General section, even when this wall "abuses" the technical limitation of the engine that our characters are not able to:
  • Jump over the battlements that symbolize the wall.
  • Climb over an obstacle.
  • Swim in swallow water(the river isnt that deep and dangerous in my eyes).
But even the smallest stone in Illarion does this.

The swimming skill/idea wasn't mentioned in our recent chat, I wish I had remembered it, but as for RPing that you "swam" it, many characters say that you couldn't because of the current being "too strong". I agree that they should be climbable, that sounds like a good job for the new Mr Rope. I don't know if I'm just daydreaming, but isnt' that pretty much the best use for ropes?

Possible solution to scaling walls:

Add a new item that can be blacksmithed: the grappling hook. Use the grappling hook with a rope, and you get a grappling rope. Use the grappling rope with a wall, and you're on the other side of it.
