A crow

A black bird flies into town, it's wings flapping, shedding feathers like shining black blades. With a nervous caw it lands on the millstone, and curiously gazes over the square. A thin red thread, almost unnoticeable, is fastened to its leg, holding a message that reads:

People of Troll's Bane,
Greed is beginning to consume now the forests of this island as well. The trees are growing scarce. Lumberjacking is massively driving the woods back, threatening the land with more deserts to grow. The month of Bragon was ruthless, filled with cinder and flame, and the firs carry few seeds.
I urge of you to replant as many trees as possible.

---

The trees. I know why they are burning. I know why they are disappearing. If you bring me plate mail, knights gloves, and knights boots I will stop the burning. I will stop the destruction of trees. But, I can only do it if the people will once again respect me, and give me access to town. I plead thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

~Misjbar~

I have been in the Wildderness a long time and have seen many people cut down trees...I do not believe you will be able to stop them, reason with them if you want but there trade will most likely overrule what you have to say.

Maybe once the trees are burned and gone. We can find those damned criminals that hide with every passing night.

It depends what you think is a criminal, some one who is banned from town. If that is what you think then Kasume in your mind i am a criminal. And Kasume are you a perpetrater of choping down so many trees? Because you seem to have a reason to do so.

Unfortunatly, the gods have made the trees so that they grow back when cut.

Although I do not burn them.
I was only stating a good side of the bad.

Kasume the shape-shifter. You wanted to fight for me against the town guard. You wanted to fight against Lyrenzia. It now seems you grew afraid and have changed sides once more.

no name is left but some people can assume who wrote...

Likely to come from unsigned parchments.

Having returned to town today, I see some people have actively done something against the disappearance of trees in the southern forests.
But the problem still remains up north, beyond the Circle of Trees.

Misjbar, I cannot speak for the others as I am new to the isle. But as I do not know you, you're accepted by me equally as all others. Meet me at the north coast for a talk, I will light a fire for you.

To the others who have replied here so far, why are you wasting paper with things that do not concern the forest's survival?

Well, my ban has been lifted, and a lot of people respect me once more. So yes Moirear, I will come and sit round a fire with you. It is actually kind of ironic don't you think. Making a fire of logs you probably got from the same forest you want to stop from burning down. Ah well, I will come anyway.

Sincerely,

~Misjbar~

Irony, other than many things, is abundant in the way of life. Safe passage to you, Misjbar.

And thank you for your concern, Willum. I hope it will inspire yet more to follow that example.
