Weapon skills

Ok, just an idea and probably one all you game designers have come up with already, but in that slim possibility that no one has, might i suggest adding bar for each weapon? meaning, being able to become proficient with different weapons individually, such as maybe dagger, war ax, war ax, ect..or just specific classes like swords, daggers, staffs, and so forth probably a lot less programming that way. It'd make things alittle more complex and also alittle simpler.
Thus enriching the RP enviroment..i mean, it'd make it so people can use different types of weapons without having to sacrifice strength and skill. daggers swing faster then swords but do less damage for example, but in the right hands a dagger can be far more deadlier then a sword..When a character is created with a concept in mind (perhaps it's a Cleric) then they could use maces and still be able to do more damage. The way things go now, everyone just wants all the best equipment, and they don't care that a full blown magic user wouldn't use shields and platearmor as someone with a sense of RP would. I have an Elven ranger who has only leather equipment, not because I couldn't get any better stuff, but because he's an Elven ranger for love of God! It's hard to move swiftly through the forest and "tree tops"(in a purely RP sense) wearing 200+ lbs of armor and yet be quiet about it.
And that's still something that irks me, too many mages with shields. It's a nice concept I suppose, but it's highly uberish. Any bumpkin can train parry, use shields in each hand and get good at magic, and thus they can run around killing people without being hurt in the least except by other mages. that's what I like to call "powergamming" or maybe even "Godmodeing". Where's the challenge in it? Whats the Role playing purpose when anyone can simply become a godling by cheeping it? It seriously makes Rp'ing very hard when you have a bunch of armored crackhead spellcasters running around..
