Hey!
Allright im suffering from some minor computer problems! Popups everywehre... I have spybot. What is another program to get rid of popups?
Also, could anyone point me in any free (yet good) firewalls?
One more thing,
THere is a program called "Toolbar.dll" (well its not really a program but it wont let me delete it since its "in use") but every time i close down the "tool.exe" program, it popusp right back up under processes. I need to delete this... I feel that its giving me not only popups, but an entry to my comp....
Anyway any help you could give would help greatly. Thanks,
Nilo

Programs ...
Stinger
Anti Vir XP
Ad-aware
And you already have Spybot.
If they don't work I usually whine at my brother.
Have you tried closing tooblar.exe/dll from Windows Task Manager (press ctrl+alt+delete once)
Sorry I can't help you more, Nilo.
Good Hunting.

Zone alarm is a good firewall, thats free.
try getting your computer into safemode then go and delete the tooblar.dll thing.
Tell us what windows you are using too. If its XP then i don't really know much about it.
Good luck

Does the spybot find anything? Something like "DSO exploit?"

If you still cannot get rid of the toolbar.dll you can boot in safe mode and delete it then.
But do this on your own risk.

No, it usually finds cookies and such... My Ad-aware just found over 200 registry and cookie things to delete.. but it still gives me lots of popups and junk....

Cassanrdra, you suggested a different firewall.
Is it possible to have BOTH Zone alert AND that firewall you mentioned ? Or would they counter act with each other? You know what they say , the more the better!!

I don't know if that work. You should try it.

A question...
they are html popups (like the ones in the web) or alert popups? I had a problem with the second ones recently.

You could try
www.pchell.com to see if your specific spyware problem is mentioned, too. If you want to go to the trouble to try to delete it yourself. I've actually had better look doing it myself than getting a program to delete it for me.

I'm not sure but I think its best to have just one firewall working at once. Same with anti-virus software.
If you get sone alarm pro, you can block web pop-ups with that. It also gives you the option to block cookies and other things, but remember to allow the Illarion forums full cookie controll because I have found you have to keep logging in every 2 seconds if not

Hmm... I've had problems lately with popups and my homepage being locked. Should I get spybot to get rid of it? If so, can someone give me the link to the official website? I don't trust what the search engine and popups give me.

Here you are:

However, here are some specialized tools for homepage-hijack removing.

Thanks. Good stuff.
I just used system restore instead though.
