well...i can foggy remeber that someone complained about not being able to see what other players are wearing/ have equipped... ( im tooo lazy to check that  , soo ..)
so this is how they solved the problem in a other game..nothing 8 images needed for every single item graphical stuff..
simple (?) ( how the heck would i know?)
just place cursor to the same square with some player , then hold some button and click him , release the button and picture of hes inventory will pop-up into your screen , and when you move then it would disappear.
ofcourse you couldnt move any items in the other players inventory or influence it at any ways , just look
..or something like that..

This system is also planned for Illarion - perhaps with the ability to steal from the other inventory.

At least, stealing things in the other person's belt =) To open someone's pouch and start searching in it would be as suspicious as trying to open his armor and helmet or removing things he wears in his hands =)
Such should only be possible if the other person is unconscious and lying on the ground.
But, stealing from the other's belt would be great =) or rings (if you're good).

You mean, stealing something out of someone's hand is impossible as long as he isn't unconcious, but stealing a ring he wears can be done?
hi hi hi hi hi hi hi
Anyways: Super idea. Make it so you can't se the things in his bag and perhaps a thief skill that examines if you succeed to search his equipement (trivial), his belt (some harder) and his bag (very hard). If it doesn't work, there should be a chance, the other one catches you in the act

Yah, but the belt is most easy... remember, what do you wear on a belt ? Leather bags, little pouches, and things you can use quickly.. or steal.. because you dont look there all the time hehe..

stealing sounds good...as long as you suddenly dont relize that you are wearing nuthin' cause someone has robbed all your belongings
stealing rings and such minor thingys... graet , but you couldnt steal platemail from a guy whos wearing it (or even having it in backpack cause i think a guy would notice the missing weigth ) ..
also no touching into silvers..or atleast bigger amounts , like someone would rob ya out of your 80 silvers when you would be buying something from somebody , cause that would make being a thief too easy and everyone would be a thief

there could be a certain max- amount of items that you can steal at one time (like 5 -10?)
and a time like five seconds you would have to wait to steal some more items
like
you steal three pieces of item nr. 1 -five seconds- ,you steal 2 pieces of item nr. 2 ,-five seconds- you try to steal piece of item nr.3 , but you failed -caranthir catches you and cuts yer head off-
if someone would fail in stealing he would become "criminal" and every person in he screen would notice that (maybe by some wierd color under him ,or maybe by message , like in magics) that would make stealing more risky and prevent super-duper thieves who would steal everything without being caugth.
my opinion.
oh yah....btw bror...before the thieves...we need belts and some little bags to put in to the belts so the thieves have something to steal , hohoho
Regards , Caranthir.

The stealing difficulty can be keyed to the items weight, so stealing 80 silver would be much more risky than stealing one.

Stealing your bag or your depot wouldn't be good either hehe

oh oh, also, make it so that it's not noticeable. For say, you'll have to click on the item that got stolen to found out that it's stolen. Those who are snobby should also beable to leave a note of their custom desire. Forsay "The crazy thief was here" or "Don't tell me to keep the change, I'll steal it when I feel like it" and stuff like that~!

OK here's the deal, I just spent over 2 1/2 hours searching and looking up stuff on this topic and I still could not find ANYONE saying that it is not going to be done.

I also offered another way of doing it in a post in the graphics forum titled "clothing and armor". Though I think I like Caranthir's ideal better.
Crocket wrote:OK, don't do it with graphics but with commands.
Something like #look at Crocket.
Then if that person is withing your range of view you would get a message like...
"Crocket is wearing leather armor, a metal helmet, and leather boots, he is carrying a short sword and wooden shield."
(just a sample message, I'm sure someone else could word it better)
If you don't know the person's name you use their number.
"#look at 99999"
Then it was rather rudely locked.

2) i explained much too often why this won't be implemented. i won't do it again.
3) this proposal is not new.
4) sorry, i'll start closing topics now. and to satrt with starting, i'll use THIS thread.

I have seen it explained why it won't be done with graphics, but I have yet to see anyone say that it won't be done with text or the way Caranthir described.
So is this still in the works (without the stealing part) or is it thrown out the window? If so why?

Hmmm... reminds me of a game called Dransik.
