Moderators Election

Basicly this is more question than a proposal, based upon this post from Martin.

If I had time, most postings would have been deleted.
Martin
Can we be allowed to elect an own moderator for non-vital parts of the board?
Namely the Off-Topic area, which degenreated into a chatroom the last days/weeks.
We could propose some names, you could filter them, and afterwards we can choose one of the "leftovers" to watch the board for us.

I wouldn't mind doing that....it has been rather filled with Spam everywhere. I think it is obvious who it is coming from though.

I'm for the idea.
But in the Off Topic boards, aren't threads deleted if left inactive for a certain amount of time?

I believe they are so.

I have no clue.
But some posts/topics just have to dissapear faster than others, and sometimes even the language used should be checked.

Hm...
An alternative idea, if this one is, for some reason, unworkable, might be to update the rules of that particular board: spelling out clearly language expectations, what is considered spam, etc. and stick with the good ol' electronic padlock if things get out of control.
But then again, there's that matter of finding somebody trustworthy enough to take the time and enforce the rules.

There once where rules set up for the usage of this board, by martin.
Sure that these guidelines can be reproduced again.

Yes, on the off topic board, topics that havent been posted on for a certain number of days will be automatically deleted.
I think its a fair idea, until the moderators will start taking advantage, especially if they are immature, and start editing everyones posts making them look stupid...
And the only way to stop that is the moderators currently have to watch what the person is doing, and that is more time than they are willign to take...
But, if you could trust the person, i suppose its not a bad idea...

I say we just delete the off-topic board all together, of course, that could just be me speaking through a murderous hatred for a certain trio's abuse of the board and their constant citation that:
"It's the off topic board so don't give out to me, stupid!"
Yours in a murderous rage,
Brendan.

a moderator is a good idea. and there is one person who asked to be it before. Arkadia. i vote for Arkadia as moderator of the off-topic-area

I vote we switch the link to the "off-topic" board to a chat room, which is what it is becoming, and Ark can be the mod for that

It's becoming a chat room for three people. What was once a someway serious place for interesting debate and the occassional humorous game or topic, has degenerated into a never ending torrent of:
"What?"
"right..."
"I like your pink hat11111"

I have to agree with Brendan...

Why not just Ban certain users from the board?

Wait wait wait.
Before we jump into conclusions I would kindly ask to wait until "an official" has made a statement to my question.

well Fooser is always up to his spam... I don't think he makes much of a difference. If you can't pick out this little group of spammers then you are blind.

I propose that the moderators make it so that posts on the off topic forum do not count towards total post number. I can almsot guarantee that our beloved spammers would quickly stop with their inane drivel.

Brendan, you cant do that, unless you re-write the entire PHP script, which would be quite complicated...

Kasume wrote:I wouldn't...
I find it entirely unsuprising that even with the above criticism Kasume refuses to stop his spam, even in recognition that his posts are, indeed, spam; afterall, it is Kasume.
Was it Nilo that reccomended banning Kasume? I do understand that Nilo has his own reasons for wanting Kasume banned, but I don't find this suggestion all too unreasonable.
Let's take a look at the feud between Kasume and Nilo. Even while Kasume gave no hint as to why his character would have had a compulsion to do the things he did, such as stealing worthless grain and desecrating holy items in the possession of Nilo's character, he continued to do so for a long time.
Even as Nilo showed Kasume his frustration, Kasume came up with no reasoning. Normally, if someone was frustrated with my roleplaying, I would try to talk things out, and failing that, I would break off that particular roleplaying experience, but Kasume would rather rub it in Nilo's face with posts attacking both Nilo's character and the Nilo behind the computer screen.
I am not saying that there isn't a place for thieves, people who desecrate holy items, murder, burn the tavern, strangle women who later end up being their fiancees, etc..; rather, I'm saying that there is no explanation whatsoever for why his character would be involved in these things. Meanwhile, he writes a background story for his character in which his character is protrayed as a noble hero in trying times. Are we to believe that Kasume is playing the character he created or that he created a character and spends the rest of his time causing trouble?
The few times that I have been present after he's "roleplayed" getting in trouble, he couldn't help but brag about what he had done out-of-character before denying everything in-character. That always put me in an awkward situation.
Before you accuse me of mixing in character things with out of character things, which is inevitabley the defense of cowards on this board, let me remind you that it would be awfully hard not to in this case, because Kasume isn't playing his character at all, as mentioned above.
Kasume, for your own sake if not everyone else's, please stop spamming. I am sure that among your group of friends it's quite a badge of honor to have a character in a roleplaying game that has a girlfriend, but that gives you no excuse to spend more time than anyone else on the boards flirting with her in the middle of topics that other people could have enjoyed before it became so much nothingness.
Moreover, it gives us yet another reason to want you banned from the community entirely, both in-game and out of it.

For starters, this topic is completely out of place for that sort of post Mosh.
I have started "The Spirit Within" topic for a god damned reason. Not just to explain itty bitty backround crap.
If not read before...
I have posted "Ritual" explaining his leave.
Now I am continueing what the topic "Ritual" has gotten to.
Kasume is a possessed little bullshitter. Mmk?

I of course would throw my hat into the ring, however I feel an election would be a popularity contest here and not be determined by how well the job would be done. I would rather have the gm's just recruit another mod, as their choices have not bothered me once.

Thats why I said that the vulunteers list has to be filtered by them, afterwards we could choose one.
However, I dont see any reply or reaction to my proposal.
Either noone feels responsible, or they rejected it.

I think the best solution would be to bring Keikan back. Everyone knows it....they just are not saying it.

Another option would be, to throw our still virgin and unknown GM Zaramunda in the cold water and let him fight in the lions pit.
Would to wonders to his post count of 22.
