It says the server is down, but it is not.....

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I searched and found nothing like this.
Today, just a while ago, I tried to log on, and it said "Either the server is down, or you are not connected to the internet". I know the server was not down because I was talking to someone on a messenger who plays Illarion, and he said he could log on. I also know I am connected to the internet, how else would I have talked to my friend on the messenger, or write this?
Well anyway, I tried re-downloading the client, restarting my computer, and log in as another character, and I have found no luck. Perhaps someone knows what I should do?
Thank you,
PO Alakdal

I believe I have found the solution, but I cannot try it right now. I have wireless Cable as my internet and the 'thing' that sends signals to my computer is pretty far away, so I will put my computer closer to the 'thing' and see if it works, although it always used to work where the computer is now. I use a laptop so it is easy to bring closer to the 'thing'.
Perhaps someone else has wireless cable who knows how to make the signal better to far away computers? We called the Cable company and haven't gotten a hold of them yet.
The guy who installed it for us told us to 'mess with the antennas'. We tried that a little, but it doesn't seemed to have helped. I guess we will keep messing with them.

Well that didn't work. It doesn't work today either. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I have my computer hanging at a wireless LAN, and I have similar problems from time to time. The transfer rate just breaks down for no obvious reason as soon as I try to do anything on the web. Haven't found a solution yet but you could try the following things as a beginning:
Check your computer and any other computers on the net for worms, spyware or similar programs.
Make sure noone has file sharing software or similar stuff running when youre online (especially emule is stealing a lot of bandwith)
Make sure nobody is standing on the cable (sorry, bad joke...)

Couldn't find any spyware/worms. No file sharing software. No wires being stepped on

(hence the name wireless)
How long did each of these problems last for you Adano? So far this is day 2 of Illarion not working.

I have these problems ever since we installed the wireless LAN in our house.
We didn't have any network installed before so I can't compare.

Not that I am the computer professional, but it souds like that either you or someone with access to your computer made changes to the settings. This could also include a firewall, as most probably the port to Illarion is blocked. If you are absolutely sure that no one changed a single byte, it might be your ISP.

No one has touched my computer lately... but just in case, how might I be able to change this?

Well, I tried it on another computer. I did not use the same files on that computer as this one, so there's nothing wrong with the files, just my internet.
If there's still a problem in 3 days (a week from when this problem started), then I will call the wireless cable people about this.

Call them anyway, you're paying for a service that you are unable to use 100% of. Big businesses wouldn't really give a crap if your net was working 70% of the time as long as they get the money, so yeh, call them, piss 'em off and get what you god damned paid for!

New error messages when I try to log in:
WSANO_DATA
Can't find host IP!
Can't connect!
Well a while ago I called the people and the guy who I was talking to had no clue of what to do. He said to call back later if there was still a problem. *sigh* Any ideas?

Or go on your firewall (if you have one) and check up illarion client, when I installed mine some how it was blocked.
