There should be a thread that is a sticky in rpg. When server is down or just anytime you can rp that you are in there.

WHy? You can role-play anywhere on the RPG board... why make a sticky? Just make a post. Then, if people like it, it will always stay at the top. Otherwise, it will die....

Its a sticky where you just talk in rp such as the bar. Many forums have it and it is a sticky because it post rate is spontaneous

someone can start a thread for that, dont need a sticky......stickies are for announcments or such stuff of importance

I think you should simply wait until the server is back online. ;)

The problem is that nobody wants to RP with others who started their own thread though. Nobody wants to be a joiner, they want to be the ultimate "I'm imporant" factor of the story. So a bunch of people make their own posts, nobody responds, and it dies.

A Fluffy Sheep Tavern sticky would give everybody an equal, but fun chance to RP. So I'm with the idea; it's just a sticky, after all.

Another factor is that many people don't post on the RP threads of others for fear of becoming one of the sometimes all-too-numerous unwanted interjectors.

I see nothing wrong with it. What harm is it. I would say though if you are banned from town or such you probably shouldn't post in it though

Let's not forget the simple factor of story quality and writing quality. Most of what is written these days probably just doesn't get anyone's interest. I mean, why would I want to read pages upon pages of some cliche story, especially those that are all in horrible blinding itatlics (ughh that's my biggest pet peeve, when people use italics for all the wrong reasons), which I will never read. Not to mention when it's a quest that requires a character "leave" for a while, then it better be worth it if you expect people to make that sacrifice.

That goes for writing stories too, espeically long driveling-single post compilation-paragraph seperation not used to good effect-life stories. I'm sure it's very interesting.... that is if I gave a rat's ass about some character I barely know or care about. If I want to read a good story about some character's adventures, I probably have a million alternatives out there, so what is going to make me want to read YOUR life story instead of any other? That's the question they have to ask themselves before they write another life story, flashback, quest to x to get y and slay z, or beware the super-threat.

Thats why the saying "Short but sweet" is #1 in my book. I don't have a long enough attention span to read and write so much, or focus on one thing for a long amount of time for that matter. This is probobly why I don't participate in board quests, and why I rarely read Hagens posts. :D

Think before you post!

The board rp seems a little silly to me. There's an rp system in the game. Log in and you can be in the Fluffy Sheep right now.

Instead, it makes more sense for the board to be used, conservatively, for announcements. Keep in mind I said "conservatively." Only post if your character would go through the trouble to post on a matter, or in direct reply to a question directed towards your character.

If you want to roleplay on a message board, be my guest.

And I love how everyone is there to rp with

That's not the fault of the system; it's the fault of the players.

Encouraging more rp on the boards would just take more players away from the game.

Wha?! But Hagen's posts are like undiluted wine, whereas most of us post the preamble to senselessness.

Anyway...

I agree that many of the stories are kind of cliche, in a sense. I smell an undying fad of the "dark sorcerer that tricked me into being possessed." Oh well.

Hagen's posts are like undiluted wine

And if you drink too much wine....what happens?

If you drink a whole lot of fine wine, you're rich enough to afford it, or clever enough to steal it.

His wine comes in reasonable quantities.

Nobody ever developed a taste for watered down wine, but when undiluted, it has a good kick.

Now why the hell are we talking about the useless analogies of wine? The point is, Hagen's posts are good to read. It's annoying when the guy types down a page or two of information, and people don't read it "cause it's too long."

A pretty bad excuse if you ask me.

It does suck to take your time to write something and have people say "Ugh...thats too long..wah wah wah." Now I will admit there were times I skipped Hagen's posts because they were too long...but only because I was unable to read them at the time and I most definately came back when I had more time and read each word (Except for those german ones) I figure the longer the post, the more likely the person has a damn clue what they are talking about.

Well, he could spice it up with drug references or some unneeded controversy, but they're not meant for entertainment...

Anyone who can't read something as short--and yes, I did say short--as Hagen's posts should be legally considered a functional illiterate. If you can't read a few paragraphs, you have no hope in the world of ever recieving a real education.

If you only knew how long many of my research papers have to be, and for every page that I've written there's most likely fifty pages of research I've had to read, factoring in those articles that I wasn't able to use. If you can't read four to five paragraphs on a message board, you're useless. Slit your throat now before professors and eventually employers have to deal with you.
