A Subtle Warning

Above the doorway of the general store of Trollsbane is a bloody dagger, impaling a rotting hand, long separated from its former owner ((28***)). Also held up by the dagger is a note behind the hand, reading under it:
My dear, ignorant populace,
Let this be a fair warning to those who continue to oppose me. You scum will pay for the deaths you have caused.
