Damien, what does that mean? If I understood you right (what I don't do that often) you wanted to say that you won't accept the new name. Is that right or did I understand you wrong?

Dear Sir Diplomatre,
I voted for Oilán, but I can't find my favorite on your list. Please add Oilán to this list. Thank you!

I prefer Île Larión as well.
And I like playing with words.

I can't find your vote on the pergament. Did you really vote in the given time? ((30.08-05.09.04))
I'll count all votes again, icluding these made before the declaration of the list of possible names. The proposal of names is count as a vote now.
I will declare the result when I have finished.

Rackere takes the pergament and goes to a quiet place to count the votes. After a while he comes back, in one hand the old pergament with the votes, in the other hand a new pergament, containing a list. He pins the old one back to its place and pins up the new one to a good-visible place.
Dear citizens of our island,
I counted the votes again including the votes made before the list was published. Here are the results:
Aandar, proposed by an anonymous person, got 9 votes.
(Île) Larión, proposed by Rackere, got 9 votes.
Gobaith, proposed by Gwynnether, got 7 votes.
(Tol en) Harthad, proposed by Gwynnether, got 6 votes.
Troll's Isle, proposed by Damien, got 4 votes.
Inis dóchas, proposed by Gwynnether, got 3 votes.
Isle Mandragor, proposed by an anonymous person, got 3 votes.
Tendales, proposed by an anonymous person, got 3 votes.
Tol en' estela, proposed by an anonymous person, got 3 votes.
Udania, proposed by Belegi, got 3 votes.
Ithaca, proposed by an anonymous person, got 2 votes.
Oilán, proposed by Gwynnether, got 2 votes.
Scylla, proposed by an anonymous person, got 2 votes.
Silverbrand, proposed by Caranthir, got 2 votes.
All other names got only the vote from the person who proposed it (1 vote).
We have to decide the name, so we have to do a runoff. You now can vote between Aandar and (Île) Larión. Everybody who already voted for one of both aren't allowed to vote again, all votes which are already done are counted. All others have now the possibility to vote until the next midweeksday. ((Wednesday, 15.09.04))
Again thanks to all for proposing and voting.

Rackere comes back to the board and feels embarressed. He crosses out the adress, which read "citizens of Silverbrand" and writes "citizens of our island"

Can't you do anything properly?
You already 'declared' the isle's name, and now you decide 'oh, no let's count this one and that one too.' Did you also remember not to count the proposal and the same person's vote differently? What is this foolishness with anonymous voters too? If someone doesn't want to leave a name, may it not be because they already voted and want a second vote? Did you use only members of all citizen lists (lyrenzia's citizen list would be okay)?
This entire 'vote' is void. You might as well start over as you obviously couldn't run a cabbage field!
Yours concerningly,

Of cause I can. You don't know me.
Klith wrote:You already 'declared' the isle's name, and now you decide 'oh, no let's count this one and that one too.'
I was asked to count these too, because some thought the old votes are counted aswell.
Klith wrote:Did you also remember not to count the proposal and the same person's vote differently?
I did. I sorted by name and handwriting, nobody should have voted twice.
Klith wrote:What is this foolishness with anonymous voters too? If someone doesn't want to leave a name, may it not be because they already voted and want a second vote?
I tried to recognize the handwrituing of all voters. They're all different.
Klith wrote:Did you use only members of all citizen lists (lyrenzia's citizen list would be okay)?
No, this vote is a decicion for all members of the island, it doesn't matter if they are citizens of Troll's Bane, Greenbriar or Silverbrand or live in the woods or are outcasts. Everybody should be able to decide this.
By the way, you didn't vote, maybe you can do it now.
Yours,
Rackere Diplomatre
((By the way, almost nobody left a sign. How should I decide which is anonymous and which isn't? Proposals can be made by everyone, anonymous or not.))

The point I am making is not so that I can get myself a vote, you already declared the name, now under pressure from a few other people you are changing it. This seems wrong since the people who said which name they liked in the proposals did not vote, that is their fault.
Not to mention, how do you know that the unsigned votes are not just the same people voting twice? If you wanted to do this properly you should not have let someone vote unless they sign their name. If they can't come into town then they should use a dove to take their letter.
I think you should just start the vote anew.
Yours,

I am slightly sad about your organisation talent, Rackere.
When you declare, a voting is possible between two dates, why do you allow people to still vote after the vote is over?
Isn't this just a farce?

You know, if I started the vote anew, everybody would think like you. I'm not inconsistant. But I'll do it. ((I'll start a new topic for it))

Dravish, it might sound a little rude, and annoy you, but I think it best to wait till he declares the votes open, so things don't mess up again.

Rackere Diplomatere,
I simply like to know where a name comes from, before i use it. There exist some languagues which are as dreadful as a snake's bite, or worse - just an example. I simply want to make sure that a name that means something, does not put a curse upon our heads.
Of course, if it is a halfling dialect, or a word from the northern plains, we can use it well.
The name "Isle Larion" reminds us of the name of our world, but does that in a way that implants the idea that this island is as important as the whole world itself, even though it is a small part of it. I understand that some people may love their home place very much, but this world-wordgame causes a headache to the taste of every traditionally raised elf.
It is a joke, and a joke should not become a name.
