Then stop whining about 'overpowered' characters, who've probably been training a long time to get where they are. In general, stop whining about anything. You don't have to start topics, just to rant.

It means, a/more characters that, is/are too much powered yes. It means that it can it is too much powered to be said as 'balanced' in the game. There can be no overpowered fighters (well maybe with the new lightning swords that gets distributed recently), dont kid me. Any fighter can be defeated easily with a strong enought mage or warlock.
Pretty much sums it up.

that is not complaining, that is being factual.

FACT: Your chars dont have high essence

FACT: High essence makes magic weaker

FACT: A char without high essence wont do well against magic

FACT: Magic is very powerful against someone without high essence

FACT: Your gonna get owned by magic

deal with it

Essence doesn't really make a difference as has been stated previously..

But it does make a difference

Its doesn't, this is a bug. Certain other attributes effect your magic resistance instead by mistake.

then replace whatever you need, with when i said essence

I suspect it is more complicated then that.. or else nitters would cass would have done that by now.

Complaining that mages are too powerful because they are mages and ignoring in his roleplay that his char has just 3 intelligence and 3 willpower.

That shows me a lack of good roleplay understanding

And arn't good mages supposed to use their powers wisely instead of killing everything for anything?

And how would you know other chars stats?
Stalker! Get away! :P

Yes, thats right. How many times have you seen a mage killing something, Kevin? Please sum it up. And also in which situation that was.

If everyone is whining about mages being to strong they have to have been killing...

And, alot of poor piggies died!

See, they are whining. But you can't give me a single example of a mage killing someone as long as it was not in self defense or through good roleplay reasons.

Well, I agree with you, but i just love a great arguement and so I'm going to argue.
Might even get some good info out of it ;)

But why would everyone be whining if they never got killed by mages?

Mages usualy have high intelligence, and most should realy think about not killing them and letting them be.

Please keep in mind that this IS a topic about magic and if you aren't talking about whats on topic than you shouldn't be posting here. There is a whole board for off topicness.

again for the record

@ arameh there is such a thing as an overpowered fighter.

Fighter<mage<Archer<Fighter

once some of the new systems get involved (like priest magic and such) i'm sure it will change

with the current classes this is what combat comes down to looking like, with exceptions in the different area's but again. just because a fighter can't kill the mage he wants doesn't make them less overpowered. to me an overpowered character can kill anything he/she wants at any time, without any need for stratagy or proper equipment. thats overpowered. but i haven't met a player character yet that fits this bill.

Edit: alligators changed

I was giving my point about roleplaying with hs stats, because someone else had started something about this, and this is linked to mages.

@ Athian What the heck does that meant? Maybe you inversed the things.
Fighters arent any good agaisnt mages because of the range at which they are from them, and I doubt archers are that good agaisnt fighters.
As for mages that didnt overuse use their magic, we are NOT talking of that. Being a strong mage, even if you never casted a spell, makes a big difference. Why? Lets take an example that happened, Arameh and Stephen at the shop, as well as Athian. Then as Arameh and stephen were about to kick off Gort, Athain decides to say something like : well, if there is a fight, i will be with gort. Then what? We coulnt do anything, if we would have fought we all know what would have happened, we just stood here while they were laughing. He did not cast a single spell, but it still changes all the RP.

going off again

Solution: mages are not allowed to fight warriors, Warriors are not allowed to fight mages ^^

the mouth always points to what eats what remember the alligator. :)

The analogy is the alligator always eats what is bigger (assuming bigger = better).

So if Fighter>Mage would mean the fighter is better than the mage.

>=greater, <=Less

Unless, of course, I misread your analogy and we are saying the same thing.

ack maybe i did put that backward. oh well, you all get the idea anyway. one quick changero will help that

Fighter>mage>Archer>Fighter
You truly think an archer is better than a fighter?

I think it'd have to be an excellent archer to overcome a fighter... i could be wrong though.

why don't you read two post up.

An excellent archer can kill a very good warrior with three arrows. I would consider that damn good.

I believe the cycle was actually:

Fighter beats Archer
Archer beats Mage
Mage beats Fighter

by xBaurusx
no... if you think about it its
Mage pwns archer
mage pwns warrior
mage pwns other mage

mages are over powered!

it should be
Mage pwns archer
Archer pwns warrior
Mage pwns Warrior
Warrior kinda left in the dirt.. only short ranged person
