My newest char can kill pigs with a dagger easily enough. There is no problem with it.

My character takes a few minutes using a sword.

My character isn't much of a fighter, but I decided to check out this new fighting system on flies. I couldn't kill even one, on the contrary, I was nearly killed. So, I don't really like it since before I could kill a scorpion or two before I need to eat but now I can't even go out of the city without being attacked.

I take back whatever I said against this new fighting system. It works great. Very Very Very good update.

One major improvment to this system is that now there is more advantage/disavantage (depending on which side you are on) to multiple attackers.

WHY DO WE NOT HAVE REVIVE ANY MORE?! I WOULD HOPE IT COMES QUICKLY! THERE ARE SOM ECASES IN WHICH I NEED IT OF THE MOST IMPORTANCE!

Anyhow..

Again: There was no change at all, not even the pigs were changed.
So, if you find it easier now, you maybe found a more suitable weapon to fight them.

@Lord of the Flies: Which weapon did you use? Did you think about that problem before? I mean, trying to cut individual flies won't have much effect, trying to crush them will wort much better.

With a certain weapon I can kill them in 2-3 hits.

Very nice.
;)

That's how the system was intended.

With the pigs, must a newbie buy some large or expensive weapon in order to kill them to make a little coin?

Posted: Sun Feb 29, 2004 5:25 pm
by Kasume
That's how it was intended? For weapons to be stronger and better then one another? I don't think this makes much sense though.

Someone could outmatch the enemy in skills and such, but use a weaker weapon. Someone with poor skills with their weapon would over power the one with better skills? I don't think this makes sense. Unless I don't understand it.

Just delete the other weapons to save time why ya at it. My firesword is incredibly slow and weak... I used to be a lot better in the old fighting system.

Did you try it on different enemies? Different Chars with different equipment? Cause that's how it was intended. Different weapons are supposed to have different effects on different enemies.

by martin
It's exactly as Adano says:
Different weapons cause different damage to different enemies.
A weapon that works good against beholders might be crappy against flies. A weapon that works good against a leather armor might be nothing against a breast plate. Etc.

MARTIN!!!! I LOVE THIS SYSTEM....I wonder if anyone has found out something I have, while fighting ogres. HAHAHA That knowledge will prove well in battle.

In fact, there are things to find out.

Hmm... Maybe so. Sounds pretty intresting now. Although hard. You never know what the enemy is wearing so you don't know what to use.

You know what your enemy is using if you and him take the time to roleplay the fight properly and gather information about your enemy before encountering him in battle.

Or if you allow enough time.

When talking about player vs. player, you are right.
But not when fighting against monsters.

Monsters don't vary their equipment that often. And even then you can still gather information from other players.

i must say, i love the way how PvP is. i fought today with grikurk, and there was enough time for a #me, and that. and it wasn't just hit, hit kill. well, the first half lifepoints, it where little lifeloss, but than, a huge one, perhaps he pierced my armor, or it was a critical hit. i don't know how it was by grikurk, but i like the new way. and ya have enough time to make a step back, or drink a potion when ya are low on energy. now after i know how it works, i know that i can risk much more #mes the next time. it is really great.

So your saying this is how it works

Example :
Arrows bad against chain
Good against plate

Actually, I hope that is more then just an example.

well, arrows good against chain, bad against plate would be more logical ;)

2. Hm, two daggers still hit slower than one. It wouldn't be the case in real life. Using two hands - you should hit twice as often. When one hand is away for the blow - the other one hits. It should be faster.
Especially if your dexterity and agility is high - there are combat moves like spin-arounds and double strikes.

The rest is GREAT!!

galim, in chain it is esyer to evade, and you are a quick-mover, so you a harder target...

Big thanks! The more I fight, the more I love it! At last - A battle really FEELS LIKE A BATTLE. Battles with mummies and skeletons - are truly a masterpiece. Ogres are out of the question! Great!

Finally, having a shield doesn't mean invulnerability. The heavier the shield, the weaker you are - it will only do you a bad service, opening you for a hit. As a light combatant - I am finding my paradise. And I don't even need great skills anymore!

Pigs, however, still do take me more hits to kill than any other monster, even ogre. I guess I haven't found the right weapon yet, but should a pig get easily killed by almost anything?

I love the flies!

What saddens me is that unfortunately, scorpions are no longer the threat of the desert. Even without any armor - their hits are pathetically weak. Flies hurt me more. Scorpions lost their attack speed.

And the daggers still - double daggers have got to stab faster. At least somewhat faster. When I use two hands - it must be faster. Daggers are already weak, so they can't be slow.
(I am pretty much like Bloodhearte, yes, I admit, my favourite weapon is thin dagger  )

That is true, but an arrow can peirce through plate like paper. Chain is well, chains attached together. The arrow head jabs itself into the chain making it not hit the person. The arrow head basically gets caught in the chain peices.

Konstatin, flies are insanely strong now. They spawn very fast and you could sit there for hours fighting off endless hordes of flies. I havn't killed a pig yet. And I havn't solo taken an ogre. Skeletons are more fun yes. I found weapons though that let me kill mummies in 2-3 hits though.
