@Crocket: basically what you are saying is that mages are not allowed to be magical, but all warriors are martial arts experts...
to the western world asian martial arts where not (or barely) known until after WWII - it was treated as a state secret by japan for instance...
as a mage i would NEVER engage in a close combat anyways, but when attacked i would try to get some DISTANCE between me and my enemy... thats when a warrior loses the fight...
@Berengar: thats what i meant, when i compared a gun with a knife... distance kills

illarion is still in ALPHA phase... lots of things have to be "tuned" so they fit together better - i do understand that right now some things arent really fair, but this is no reason to put the finger on only one "class" and complain about how things are not fair with them - there are many things that are not balanced yet, and one of ´em is also fighters blocking attacks successfully, no matter how many people engage them at once...

accually even somewhat experienced mages can fail depending on the spell.
