Heyho,

I know that one of my friends from university just started Illarion, she wrote to me she is going to play a Serinjah called *Fenai*. It would be so great if someone could welcome her on my behalf on Noobia. I won't be able to tonight, my test tomorrow unfortunatelly does not allow such a thing.

Thanks to whomever helps her with her first few steps. I owe you one ^^

To all "old" players who are on noobia:

The job of the guides is not easy. So, officious performances can be an encumbrance to the guide´s RP with the New Player when there is a confrontation with "old" player and Guide or with the "Newbie". So please contain yourself a bit. RP is good and fine, we like it yeah, but primary on Noobia: Noobia, the NPCs there and Guides are for the New Players . That´s logical, isn´t so?
Nobody is perfect I know. But behave exemplarily, like the Guides must do too .

I write this preachment so this situations can be avoidable. It should be a preventive effect ... I hope so.
I made this experience only once (it is not a worst-case scenario), but other times aren´t necessary.
Think about the new players. Generally they want a nice impression of the game. It can be difficult for them how to deal with it.

(This is a preachment so comments aren´t really expedient )

An alle "alten" Spieler, die auf Noobia sind:

Die Arbeit des Guides ist nicht einfach. Daher können aufdringliche Auftritte für das RP zwischen Guide und Neuling behindernd sein, wenn es denn zu solch einer Konfrontation mit Guide und altem Spieler kommt. Daher bitte ich euch, euch ein wenig zurückzuhalten. RP ist schln und gut, wir mögen es klar, aber primär gilt doch auf Noobia: Noobia, die NSCs dort und die Guides sind für die Neuen Spieler . Logisch oder?
Niemand ist perfekt, aber verhaltet euch vorbildilich, so wie die Guides es auch tun müssen .

Ich schreibe diese Moralpredigt damit in Zukunft solche Situationen vermieden werden. Es soll einen präventive Wirkung haben...hoffe ich.
Ich machte diese Erfahrung solch einer Situation nur einmal (das ist kein Super GAU), mehrere Male sind aber nicht nötig.
Denkt an die Neuen Spieler. Generell wollen sie doch einen netten Eindruck vom diesem Spiel haben. Es kann für sie umständlich sein, mit sowas umzugehen.

(Das ist eine Moralpredigt, so sind auch Kommentare dazu nicht wirklich angebracht)

Ich bin ja der komischen Ansicht das man neue Spieler
direkt mit gutem und lustigem RP begrüst, so wie
es auch wärend des Spiels üblich ist. Das macht
ein wenig Eindruck wie es so zu geht, nur doofes
OOC gelaber, welches meist trocken und langweilig ist,
ist meiner Meinung eher abschreckend. Wenn ein
neuer Spieler nur einmal #me grinst oder #me lacht
eintippt, kann die Arbeit des "Noobiators" schon
vollbracht sein und ein Spieler beginnt das Spiel
zu mögen.

Hm...ich hab die Erfahrun gemacht, dass Neulinge einen Guide einfach mit: "Hilfe" mehrmals ansprechen. Man hält die Guides anfangs für NSCs.

Vielleicht könnten die Guides eine "Uniform" tragen, damit man zumindest beim angucken einen Kontrast hat. Vielleicht hilft es ja.

Macht vielleiht nach dem VBU Sinn, dass alle Guides gleich rumlaufen.
Jetzt aus allen Guides männliche Zwerge zu machen, das wär etwas übertrieben... und wir ham ja auch NPCs von jedem Volk da...

Wenn ein Newbie euch wie nen NPC anspricht.. warum nicht wie ein NPC antworten...

Die gleiche Spielerrasse zu werden meine ich nicht, sondern eher an eine Bekleidung.

'Silly suggestion' : Give everyone a custom-lookat item with "Newbie Guide" written on it, for when people 'lookat' the guides

Shouldn't take pharse too long to implement and give custom items

ADDED: You could just as easily make it display

"This is a newbie guide, he will help you if you need help with the tutorial" when you look at the player.

Unnütz, ein Neuling wird nicht unterscheiden können, ob ein Guide nun grüne Hosen mit gelben Streifen trägt oder gelbe Hosen mit grünen Streifen.
Außerdem seh ich's auch sehr unwahrscheinlich, dass die Newbies jeden Charakter den sie finden anschauen.
Speichert euch doch einen Text in F2 oder so, den ihr benutzt falls ihr mit "hilfe" angesprochen werdet.

Ich dachte da nicht an eine Hose nicht gelb mit grünen Streifen, sondern eher sowas wie mit einem "Guide-Abzeichen".

Das Guideabzeichen kannst du ja mit nem Emote auf F5 oder so simulieren.

#me trägt ein Abzeichen der Gilde der professionellen Fremdenführer.

Einheitskleidung, Titel, besondere Merkmale - alles Nonsens!
Ich begleite neue Spieler seit Jahren bei ihren ersten Schritten und habe nie meinen 'Rang' zu erkennen gegeben.
Helft ihnen einfach ohne einen Ritterschlag dafür zu erwarten - oder lasst es bleiben.

Ein Newbie wird eh kaum mehr als einem Noobiator begegnen. Es sei denn, da stehen grad Mehrere herum, was seltener der Fall sein dürfte. Auch dann wärs eher abschreckend, wenn alle gleich rumrennen -> nach dem VBU sieht man das ja. Also Uniform ? Unnötig... es sei denn, es treten alle Noobiatoiren z.B. als Salkamaerische Legionäre auf oder sowas... XD

I had a character there for the longest time, and finally deleted her due to inactivity.

I have made a character to stay on Noobia and help other players.

It's a friendly little Halfling (of course!) who is the younger brother of my Main character Bernie Bottoms. His name is "Andy Bottoms".

He'll never leave Noobia...one 'Bottoms' in Gobaith is enough!

Suggestion: Can we change the name of Noobia to something like "Avalon", "Fantasia" or something? Noobia sounds so...demeaning. Otherwise it is great! (Just need to finish those craftsmen)

I always thought so too. But the name needs to show new players that they're somewhere temporary because they're new, so they can learn the basics. That's why I never complained about it. "Noobia" strikes me as "oh, place for n00bs, so I guess I'm finding out bigger, realer places eventually."

Maybe something that's like "Eden" minus the religious part. :V

Hmmm....the beginning of the thread says to 'post' experiences too, so here goes.

I helped a new player tonight, at the copperneedle sisters, and apparently, he had been 'using' scissors to make a shirt like 'Penny' told him, but what you really need to 'use' is the needle. The poor guy had been trying to make a shirt with scissors for eight minutes! I set him straight and he was relieved.

Can we check the script on 'Penny' and change it if necessary?

This brings back memories! You were the one that thought me how to cut trees and gave me my first carpentry gear
