More like comparing it to warriors being unable to heal themselves in combat. Its hardly an unfair proposal.
Why would you compare mages with warriors anyway, warriors are simple sword swinger, nothing else, everyone can do that.
The same thing would be to compare druids to warriors "Omg druids got gynk fire omg omg omg nerf those people down!" you want to see that aswell or?,
Oh and crafter got far to much money, lets make them use up twice as much ressources as they done before, that would jsut be fair I mean...they compare great to warriors after all.
Seriously its always the same old arguments from the "Mages are gay" fraction, even here I saw people with " Oh man mages play bad rp" I asked for names...noone answered, so its either a lie or they just say it to "have a point" but complaining without proof is just well whatever.
You always seem to fail that being a mage is much more work than anything else in illarion currently, you maybe can train a warrior to perfect within less than two months(ask matt how its done) in one month as a mage you maybe have 6 Runes, mostly 4 or even only 2, yes you really going to kick smeones behind with 4 runes.

Did you read what Cromwell said? The proposal is to reward certain characters with the healing spell due to rp, like a quest etc. It could be made so they can use it three times a day, slightly different to the current one anyway.
What system you want to have there exactly? We have just the mage system, priest/bard/druid are still developing, you want to take out a spell from the mage system, place it somewhere else, with nothing to back it up and give the ability to heal soemone for 3 times a day...3 times are you kidding, a normal Mes Pen doesn't even fill up more than 2/10 of a health bar for warlocks, so 3 a day is downright useless.
Btw. who decides whats good rp, lately I only saw english quests I barely see one quest in german and I know some people have even bigger problems with english than I have.
How are these people supposed to get any "reward" and while we are at the topic, why not reward every questplayer, would that be fair for the others, who don't tend to go along with quests, would people who stay out of quests out of char reasons gain any reward aswell for good rp?

They wont be mages, they will be priests. The idea of healing magic in the majority of games/fantasy style writing is that its the benevolent power of the gods being transmitted through the priest. Its different to magic.
Yes but you fail to see one point, magic is the foundaition of illarion, it ~is~ the lifeforce of the whole world(atleast coming from the legends, which should be considered true unless something else comes from the staff), so there is a ~huge~ differenc between mages and priests, while mages use the power of the gods directly trougth spells, priester need to "ask" for it and gain their power not from the magic of the world but from their gods, thus creating bigger "things" on their own, while you maybe need 3 or 4 Mages to do the same thing.

Why should mages know exactly how to heal themselves? That makes no sense.
So Mages know how to cast flames, bring deaths back into life, controll weather, summon creatures, summon elemtals who build stuff for them and much more but they can't even heal themself?
Now thats what one would call illogical, wouldn't that be one of the first things a Mage learns, to heal himself, before he blasts other people, well looking at the fantasy genre all over the world you will see that the most spells of a mage, if he is the primary spellcaster and no paladin or priest are avaible, in the beginning will be to heal himself.

The problem is pellandria, you view magic as something which is limitless. It should be rped with limits and boundaries, like anything else.
Thats nonsense, magic is limitless because of its nature, Mana is life and life produces Mana, its as easy as that, mages toy with the elements, that are the foundaitions of this world.
A Mage allready has much boundairs to deal via rp and engine wise.
Stick a mage in a metall armour and he should be as useless as it gets, gag his mouth and bind his hand down somewhere and he will be useless too, so don't tell me that we need to burden mages with even more stuff than we allready have ig.

I have no idea what you mean with degenrating priests to mages. And thanks for the compliment.
We have no priest system, we only got magic, so if we take something out of the magic system and give it to priests they still would technicaly be mages even if they have one simple spell, which brings nothing at all, but you fail to grasp this anyway, he would need to speak runes and learn ancient to controll the power...so basicly what you want is that the staff takes somethign from the mages and gives these things to the priest, considering the stuff how it is all done stays the same, so we would have priestermages ooooor you take away the things from the mages, produce a whole new system and bring it out in like 3 years, both things are not smart and the last sentence was for edward, as he posted it, not for someone who says "signed" or "great idea" or something, its always pointed towards the one who originally wrotte it, not who agreed with it.
