I know this is a little late to say this in the thread (but unlike all of you slackers I just got up being as I am 6 hours off of most of you), but I think many of you took the original post wrong. The intent wasn't to make magic stronger, then intent was to cause role play and reaction to role play. Now I am sure giving a message with the spell will help for now and may actually cause the person casted on to react. Very often I have seen people who are casted on by that spell who do not have any emote about flying back or handling on their ass, but instead step right back up infront of the mage and continue blocking their way or attacking.
I really doubt going from 100/100 hp to 95/100 hp is cause for complaining that adding some hp damage to this spell will make magic over powered. Instead it will just make the player think "hey, this was supposed to hurt, maybe I should react on it properly."

Nah, from my experience those who ignore it altogether would still ignore it. Hence I proposed to stagger them for a moment. This would not hurt by itself and still show them that they just landed on their back.
And if you want to RP a soft landing then you can still do that, just find another explanation for the staggering.
And no, I don't play a mage, I'm just trying some common sense here. The devs are the balancing experts, they will know if it would be unbalancing.

Really? Of course it's not as drastic as your example, but just to remind you that not everyone just ignores it, when the preceeding roleplay is acceptable.Taeryon Silverlight wrote:And by the way Crommy, since most warriors don't wait for the enemy to react on his #me slashes, there is no time to think about longer emotes than #me flicks his wand, but I never saw a RP that went like that:
mage flicks his wand
mage: JUS QWAN
warrior gets thrown backwards and curses loudly as his butt hardly hits the floor.

Well, of course, that wasn't exactly the same as what you wrote down to the letter (and thus you can still claim that nobody has said precisely that to you), but the point was in my opinion (more or less) the same. You're hard pressed to find many instances of "Character stumbles on the floor and hits his head hard on the floor due to the push" either, even though I'd wager that pushing is much more common. As you know, my character also didn't immediately run back to him to (in vain attempt to) kick Tae's ass.My noob flexes his hand, moving the large hammer with relative ease. "Did you threaten me, shortling?"
My noob looks at "Silverlight".
Someone (Tae): Did you insult me, troll?
Someone (Tae) looks back to the man
My noob examines the man.
My noob: Hach.. What there would be to insult? Your feminine manners and lack of manliness speak for themselves.. Bylingar.. You are a walking insult.
Someone (Tae) is about 1.85m tall. His blonde hair is shortly cut and the wide robe he wears hides both of his arms.?
Someone (Tae): Allright, that was enough
Someone (Tae) flicks his wand, blowing a strong wind after the tall man
Someone (Tae): [anc] ******** ((JUS QWAN!))
My noob stumbles backwards. He narrows his eyes.. and flexes the hand which is holding the hammer.
Someone (Tae): I suggest you excuse for your words now.
Someone (Tae) coldly looks at the man, his wand raised
My noob ..suddely flings it forward.. obviously aiming at the mage. "ARR! By the gods!"

For the information of the rest, after the JUS QWAN, the fight was roleplayed with no damage or direct, engine action against eachother (some illusions and walls were present, though). I must say that it was quite nice one. He mercifully fled with his character, though he could have butchered my character with ease in a skill-fight. So I thank him for that.

@Adano & Dantagon:
Would you consider damage, stagger or message to be necessary for ordinary push as well? How about some paralyse effect for pointing a sword at someone (If anything, THOSE get ignored a lot).

Thus: No changes into any direction are necessary (and would just be a waste of effort). Just focus on the priest/druid/bard things and the actual cool stuff, Nitram.
Lets all just try to be fair towards eachother in the game; if someone doesn't play nice, bring some friends along next time and frag his ass.

I mean, come on..

Cromwell, if I remember this incident rightly, we had a nice RP-fight afterwards, that took almost 20 minutes. I emoted that the hammer hit me and then we started to fight. I could've easily killed you back then, but I started an RP-fight, because I appreciated, that you wanted to handle this in an rollplay and not with a crtl+clik-fight. Please, next time, post the whole log.
