What I do not like currently, is the whole "I wanted a democracy and to vote for my leader" posts in the RP board.
A person just took over your town by sending an army and officially winning. The most obvious thing to happen is that people don't enjoy it, but they wont be openly asking for a democracy and saying its injust, in RL it would be beacuse the government would probably have your head for that sort of thing.
If people want to start rebel groups, thats fine, but the whole "I want a democracy bla bla bla" after a country has been counquered is just.. wrong...

Korm, sorry but all you wrote here is more or less.."crap" you bitch about Taliss, who had 10 minutes to organize, how could you possible organize this "defensiv" troop in 10 minutes or less.
Of these three hours, you could only possible use 2 hours, because server crashed and so on, then just before the attack the serv crashed, again we were shattered, then we couldn't even block off the portal places, if we would heve build a stone cage, the people would just land outside the cage after a few were trought, then eliminating the cage with mages, the battle was crap, nothing else, rp to come might turn out way better.

I guess that's directed at me. But I can't really help it. That's just my char. She wants to avoid bloodshed and she's a salkamarian. There are not much solutions left. *shrugs*

a town has been conquered. so what?
it would be no problem, if not for the fact, that he, who owns TB, owns gobaith.
here i don't even mean the fact, that nobody can travel from west to east or north, without passing TB land.
i mean the fact, that no player can evade, to send his char into TB, where the infrastructure is, that can be found nowhere else.
beef up the other towns.
Like Siltaris owned the island?

.. Nah. 'We' will never be able to effectively monitor or control who passes through the lands. Heck, it's even nearly impossible to prevent anyone other than the most high-profile rebel leader from strolling down the street on any sunny afternoon. TB is too weak, at least for the time being (and throught the history.)
So that's a non-issue.
@Pell
You don't need more than fifteen minutes to craft a plan of somesort (I mean, our plan sucked and we just said "Bollocks, let's change the plan and just walk there together"). However, you had no leadership and too 'diverse' group of people. I mean, it never helps if a random guy shouts "Attack!" and one third of the army stops doing anything because they lack the translation. Okay, I simplify a bit, but giving out complex orders is more difficult in such circumstances. We were an army, you were a bunch of individuals doing ..stuff. I'm guessing that it was not the time itself that was lacking, but rather the lack of proper leadership that "killed" the defense.
Ps. I thought "pell" was neutral.

Actually I'm sure they could have came up with an awesome plan if it wasn't for the fact that the person who basic planned their complete defense was in fact working for Caelum.

exactly.
i had a char there. i saw no governer, no guard offical. just somebody i remembered to be a guard.
the time he took, to misorganize, somebody else could have used for organisation.
treachery is part of war. well done, winners. you outwitted us.
cromwell,
i hope, you are right, that TB will be weak now...
pellandria, thanks for the personal attack.

Considering the grievances of the attackers, and those in general of the old government, I think democracy is a legit concern of those still in town

There were by far enough people online. It wasn't done like when shitty Rothman and those broke into SB while no dwarf was online.
Don't even start with that you little nooblet. There were plenty of dwarves online, infact the most there had been for quite some time. Some type of prayer thing, If I remember right.

..Nah. "Grievances" and "Grievances"..
Democracy is indeed a legit concern, or rather the fact that some people are still trying to push for some stupid democracy. Military dictatorships for the win!

There were like 3 people there. You were not a player at this time, so don't act like you are infallible.

Bull crap Alex. I was there, I even attacked Thurbert or whatever at that Irmomon alter or whatever. Stephen jailed Grant over that. Go back and read, I was a member with Grant for over 2 months when that happened.

Just a little additional note concerning the issue: time given to the defenders for organising defence:
3 hours is definetely too less time. People are not in front of the PC 24/7, so wasn't me.
In order of fair play, more time should be given next time. Even when in 'real wars' there sometimes were no warnings before attackis, Illarion is different.
This is a game, as such one has to understand the game mechanismsn behind it. And one of the very basic mechanism is that in Illarion big actions need loeads of time for planning and preparation. This is since every PO has RL and sometimes is not able to go online every day.

Announce wars of such size at the ig-event-board before (at least 3 days, more is better). Then everyone should have more fun.
Furthermore, I suggest to
stop keep on
discussing here about issues of time or fairness; before any flame arises.
This has happened ig and we all should get along with that.
I truely hope that a revenge - which seems quite reasonable at the moment - will be handled and accepted by all sides the good way it has happened right here.
Regards,
PO Sil

((A side not about the Rothman attack. And I was there. It was a siege to get a captured person. Who tells their enemies they are staging a jail break?????))
Back to topic(sort of...)
Can you remember all the posts about bandits coming into town when no guards were online? Yes you can. You may have even been one of the people that brought up the fact you should assume guards are there. It is poor RP some of you said. I saw people from the OPPOSING side of that whole battle walk into Troll's Bane while little of the opposing force was online and attack their enemies. Hmmmmmmmm.

dath dshusth maickse mi thik...
My opinion is that one has to inform the PO of the leader of the opposing party before such an event. Players of chars in a leader position are usually grown up, can discriminate between IC-OOC and are worth to be given a faire chance to prepare what is needed, thus they are able to react properly (like their chars would).
I think all players benefit from a good organised conflict.
All in all this conquest is surely an interesting turn.
