Reason for the first wipe was a server change so there was no possibly way for them to keep all character names and character skills. They won't do it again voluntarily.

hmm..
*thinks very hard
The solution....
First.. Do not care about skills!
Idea destroy the f8 key! So, you skill but do not see skill and say ooh I am green, yelllow, blue etc!
Second.. Stop having stupid quests that end up winning on our side! I want to see 1 quest with a people going to quest. I want to see 1 quest when everyone is involved!
Will write further..

I agree with Salathe, though I can see it getting very frustating.

I personally do not flaunt my skills so I think it is unfair to destroy it. Anyone who actually abides by the rules does not talk about the color of their skill level. Atleast not IG. I like to look at my skills and see how I have progressed. It is like a stepping stone for me and many others. Do not get rid of the f8 key because two or three people abuse it. That screws it up for the rest that do not abuse it.

Even destroying F8 key wouldn't help. For example in smithing you know if you are better than someone else, because you can say, hey look, I can make chain mail (or whatever) and the other person cannot. And in figting it would mean everyone would have to duel everyone to see who is better.

and that is exactly, what the nobility of the good old times did...
(without using bombs or magic)

And that's exactly what people did when they didn't realise you could tell your skills by the different shades of blue they were. Duels all the time. TB's new layout is annoying for duels nowadays cos you have to go and find a gate rather than walking east a few steps as you'd be outside Eliza's anyway.
