In my opinion, there is no other way than a public vote - so do it.
But a vote has to follow some rules so that all sides accept its result. And the most important issue is: Who is allowed to vote?
There is only one reasonable answer this question:
All people in Gobiath are allowed to vote!
Otherwise, it is impossible to make line between people who are allowed and who are not. If you allow the so-called 'citizens' of Trolls Bane only to vote, then it is obviously that it is not a fair situation, because of two reasons. First, Stephen decided himself who is a citizen. So nobody can really argue that this would be a fair vote, when he only allows his 'self-selected people' to vote. Second, there are more than the 'citizens' which are affected by the result of the vote, even all people who daily walk through the town, spend the money there, make the town active and finally make the town the place it is - a place, where all folks, all races, all beings come together.
And finally, at least since Mr. Rothman sretched his finger out to Silverbrand and conquered it in a questionable acting, the politics which are going on in Trolls Bane affect the whole island. Rothman crossed the border of his town and thus of his field of responsibilty. Now he has to accept the consequences of his own behaviour, which led to this situation.
So make the vote - and make it available to whole Gobiath! Making the vote available to only a small group weakens its legtimation. And it should be in the interest of the candidates to gain as much legitimation as they can get.

The reason i asked the whole isle of their opinion is simple. First, as already mentioned, Trollsbane is a town in which everyone of us spents alot of time. A town in which we have our friends, and a good part of our life. Second, with his attack on Silverbrand and his plans to continue attacks and conquering of other towns Rothman involved the whole isle because he is now a danger for every other town, and every other town has to fear to meet soon the same destiny like Silverbrand. And third, who leads the town has also influence on the fight against Negros and the temple, and that is something about everyone should decide, not just few peoples in trollsbane.
Yes, Rothman says he fights now the temple, but what was before? Before he sided with it, and even helped it. He got payed by the temple, and for what? He did that not to make the town safe, he did that because he thought he can use the temple for his own goals. He just started to fight after he finally saw that the temple won't be his puppets.
After the temple was already very strong, and had gathered many new victims in his town. Many of his peoples joined the temple, or got forced into it. Arameh, he holds the blackstone. Liles, he holds the blackstone. And who knows who else. Men and women who haven't met that fate if he wouldn't have helped the temple for so long.
After he insulted and threaten everyone who said that we have to move against the temple. After he insulted and threaten those who warned him before the temple.
And Negros? When we heard about Negros, we hold a meeting about future plans and how to defeat him. But who was it who disturbed the meeting and made a united force impossible? Rothman and his son. Claiming Lamar and everyone helping her are liers. Claiming they need noone else, that they alone will be able to defeat Negros. Why they did that? Because they can't accept that not they will be the one doing the finally blow. Because not they are the important part in the plans. Because Rothman tries everything to claim any fame for himself.
He claims that it was him who defeated the temple. Ignoring the fact that the temple is still a danger and a strong force. Ignoring the fact that it was the prayer started by Nerian Finera who protected the town with the barrier, and hold the undeads back. Ignoring the fact that many peoples fought the temple, and helped to safe the town. Does he mention them? No, it is just him here, him there. How HE did everything! In the last days I had to defeat Retlak, warlord of the temple, two times. One when he was at the southgate, and than when he was in the grey rose. Does that sound like the temple is beaten and gone, when their warriors still sneak around our settlements? Holded back just by a barrier made through peoples and their prayers, and not Rothmans sword? Retlak beaten up Rothmans own son, who was not able to have a chance against that evil. Does that sound like it is over yet, like they are weak and no threat anymore?
There are men here who claim I am a murderer, an evil. Because I don't side with Rothman, because I was able to see through the faked face he shows us all since the very first moment. Men who don't know me a bit. Who don't know my worries, and my fear for the isles safety. Too funny that they use the same words and the same insults Rothman used when I warned him before the temple, and told him the temple should be fought against quick, and not let them too much time to settle. When he called me the true evil because I told him we have to fight against that undead and whorshippers of Bjolmur. The very same creatures we have to fight yet, who brought many suffering to the isle.
The same words he used when I warned him many month ago before the orcs with which he wanted to alliance. When I told him it is too dangerous to do that. And what? a few weaks later i had to help Rothman against those orcs. I helped when they started attacks and rampages, i even helped enough to rescue his life when they started a surprise attack on them.
And than he calls me evil, after I risked many times my life to help the town? After I helped many times against troubles CAUSED by Rothman and his blindness and his greed for more and more power? And the same he does with so many other peoples. He treats those who don't lick his boots and support him in his claim for power like dirt. He spread lies about them, twists the truth and let his men talk bad about them in every free second.
There are peoples here who say Rothman did so much good for the town, and Aleytys Lamar nothing. Have you given her the time and chance? No, a few days after she started in such troublesome times you already judge about her. You haven't given her any chance to proof her worth, and her work for the town. You haven't given her any time to do so.
And if Rothman did so much good, how comes it than that we need a barrier to protect the isle? That there are so many little fights between him and others? And that is just not between me and him. If he was so good, why than, in Zhambras name, had the whole isle offered its support AGAINST Rothman? Is the whole isle, except the few of his men who are his warriors, the opinion that it is too much now?
Trollsbane never had such a bad reputation by the other realms like under Rothman. Never was the relationships between Trollsbane and its leadership and other towns that bad.
It is now finally time that a new face governs this town, that a new face gets his or her chance to lead this town. But does Rothman accept it? No, because he wants to hold his claim on the town with any method...any force. He left the town alone to conquer in times of great dangers an other town who opened their doors for any man and women to join them in their prayers and ceremony. He abused that opened doors for them to enter their town, slaughter them and conquer it. And what happened while that?
Negros attacked trollsbane, and just through the help of few, not sided with Rothman, noone of the citizens got harmed. He left the town defenseless and alone when he went out for his greed of power, and the enemy immediately abused it. And who was after Negros? Galthran! A bandit and murderer and temple member? Rothman sided with him to conquer Silverbrand. Yes, that men wanted together to conquer it, but than Galthran decided different and conquered Trollsbane while Rothman was out killing dwarfes in their temple of Irmorom. That wouldn't have been possible would Rothman have been a better leader.
And why has Aleytys Lamar accepted the offer for Governeur? Because she knows that Galthran was not trustworthy, and she also knows that Rothman isn't it. She accepted it because it was a chance that someone with a good heart decides, that not Galthran decides alone, or that Rothman cames back from his slaughtering and continues like before. She accepted it because she saw it as a chance to take back power from Galthran, and give it to good peoples like Siltaris. Have she trusted him? No. We have watched him the whole time, and he wouldn't have been able to do anything bad for the town. We all would have stopped him before.
And now Rothman shall be given back his town so that he continue his failures? Look infront of the shop. There you see the anvil and the flames, a sign of Irmorom. A sign of Irmoroms wrath. A sign that Rothman angered the gods with his doing! Ask Rothman for his Malachin dagger he once had. Ask him what happened with it. I know what happened with the one Salatha had. I saw what happened to it. Salathe, who was helping Rothman to conquer Silverbrand, was punished by Malachin, and he turned his holy Malachin dagger into stone!
Rothman speaks as a warrior of Malachin, but he is just speaking for himself, because through his deeds, Rothman lost any support by Malachin, and he made Irmorom angry on him.
Does that sound like a good desicion for Governeur? A man who lost any blessing by Malachin because of his doings, and who made two gods angry on him, and waked their wrath?
I say no. Now is time to elect a new Governeur, one who finally makes it right. And my vote still stands for Princess Aleytys Lamar. She is a woman who would sacrifice herself for the safety of others. A woman of honor and kindness. A woman of fairness, one who has visions and a strong wish and will to make this isle a better place. Zhambra is my guide, and he guides me to this desicion.
May Zhambra protect our friends, and may he protect us against the evil

Lord Meryadeles is wildly incorrect and biased against lord Rothman, everyone knows this, as it is a widely accepted fact. Everyone whom has ever met her has known her as an arrogant woman, whom holds onto outdated ideals and ways. I ask of all, all the people whom still hold a bit of honour and willpower against this pure manipulation displayed by lord Meryadeles, to vote for Stephen Rothman. He is still the man whom made the town great, no one else, him. He did this for all of us.
Lord Rothman shall stand strong, and I shall stand beside him. I vote for Governor Rothman.
Lord Meryadeles gives Aleytys Lamar much, much too much credit. If, as unforeseen fault of the people here, gets voted as governess, let me assure you, she will lack the vision to keep the town active and thriving.
May the Five protect us against the ignorant and biased, and may they protect us from the zealots whom write here,
~Lerian Lifi'al~
P.S. Where did you make that blue ink lord Meryadeles? It looks like something I could mimick.

What did he do for us?Misjbar wrote:...He is still the man whom made the town great, no one else, him. He did this for all of us...
-Attacking prayers during a mass
-Sealing the tavern of the dwarves and broke the contract between Silverbrand and Trolls Bane
-Ignoring the words of a maybe sniffy, but very wise lady
-Amplify and protect a dark circle of undeads till they got so strong, that they almost took over Trolls Bane
-Spreading lies and rumors about honorful people
-Watching, while a new city of death is being built in the south of Greenbriar
And at least he affiliatet with a known murder and robber only to increase his power and to get back "his" town.

There's a letter pinned here, the handwriting a bit bad as if written in a hurry.
Stephen attacked, not because of the mass, but because the dwarves stood and laughed at him while he tried to defend them from Galtrhan. The mass was simply a coincidence.
And if you think that the words of one who serves only her own good as wise, I suggest you see a medico.
Lies and rumors about so called 'honorfull' people, people who have done everything they do in their own interest or against those of another.
And about the situation in Briar, with the people of his own land constantly trying to rid him of his position as governor, going there would mean anyone could take over, wich would and will mean misery and death for Trollsbane.
Also, I was recently banned from this town, a town wich I would give my life for untill a little while ago when all it's inhabitants turned against me and all others who kept them and their children safe for years, the reason: Being a member of the knighthood.
I will not see this once so great city fall in the hands of a bandit and a spoiled woman who do it for nothing more than their own benifit.
I do not want bloodshed, I want to love and to live, not to hate and to die, but I will if that is what is needed.

Miss Lamar agreed on new votes, and don't call herself Governeur until that. The same should be done by Mister Rothman. He shall not call himself Governeur, and decide anything, while everyone who isnt in his army wishes to vote a new Governeur and doesn't agree with his actions in the past. This way Mister Rothman will just pull as quick as posisble as many new peoples on the isle into the town, lie to them and make them vote him, without them ever having a chance to see the truth behind all, and just decide based on Rothmans twistes truth and lies.
Another reason why the whole isle should be able to vote, and not just the citizens Mister Rothman dragged into the town under his hand. There are many who would be citizens but aren't because of him.

Well then, ladies and gentlemen, all of you who had not the patience to give the new government at least a week of time to act, do what you say. Actually profe that you are able to.
You don't want anyone of the proposed persons as your leader? That might be your will. I would propose you start acting now.
The list of names against the government is long, so is the list of words against it. There is a list of words, but not a list of actions.
I am asking myself, is there anyone between you who actually want's to do something or who is actually able to? If not, I don't see why you were against this. Only because you are basically against everything? I hope not.
If the citizens want their voices to be heard, so let them be heard now, just don't sit around and do nothing.

A note in neat and accurate handwriting is left on the boards:
Me, as fairly new inhabitant of Gobiath, did notice, that under the lead of Governor Rothman, as well as under the new “government” of Troll’s Bane there has been and still are discontent, discrepancies and fightings.
With horror I had to learn that there are some inhabitants who are bored when times are too quiet. As soon as there is a chance to spend some time with friends at the market place or in the tavern with a little chat, there are voices seeking some kind of “excitement”.
I believe that this however is not the wish of most of the inhabitants, because if it was I am definitely on the wrong isle, which – I have to admit – I would reluctantly have to leave again.
Personally I cannot say that I know neither Stephen Rothman nor Lady Lamar very well.
Neither I put all my trust in the one nor the other, as little as I mistrust both of them.
Yet I have the impression that violence and aggression increased since Stephen Rothman left town.
However before I would have to give my voice to any person, I would like to know his or her opinion, would like to know about plans and how Troll’s Bane is supposed to be lead.
In my opinion Stephen Rothman as well as Lady Lamar should face up to the inhabitants’ questions, answer frankly and honestly, because this is the only way that the inhabitants can make up their minds for a fair election.

I want to inform you that those mentioned crimes were dine mostly by a single man called Rankor. A man who was recently captured and jailed by Miss Siltaris, the from Miss Lamar anounced new captain of the guard. I also want to inform you that long before that this man was captured and jailed for his crimes by me and Miss Siltaris. But Mister Rothman let him free because the man agreed on defending Silverbrand for Mister Rothman.
Also it is not nice to use the crimes as an arguement, since a new government first needs some time to etablish another guard and work on that problems. Miss Lamar never got that time.

I am happy to testify that Galthran is infact working for the temple and has been seen together with an undead member of the cult just today.Garett Gwenour wrote:I am happy to confirm that both Galthran and myself found a way to end this conflict in a peaceful way inwhich both of us can live happily with.
Now that Galthran and my own grudges have been settled, our forces can mesh and no more Mortal blood must be spilt over this land. Now we are strong enough to march to hellbriar together and push Negros off that island.

If you realy build your hopes on this alliance this clearly shows what kind of a dishonorful person you are, Rothman.
You cannot disarm a conflict by creating another.

There you see the true face of Rothmans new alliance. Galthran has, together with the undead warlord Retlak, attacked and wounded a man who wanted to sell shoes in Greensbriar today. Mercyless they slayed him down. And that one day after Rothman claims to be allianced with him against Negros!
That is the true face of those men!

Lady Meryadeles,
Maybe a direct assault upon this man is unjustified. How do you know the pact was not broken or ignored by the other man only? I am sure the man you are attacking has the right to first say something before you begin to attack him with words of distrust and dishonor.
Of course, my time upon the small island is tiny at most.

I had a few words with Elder Aniron the other day inwhich I explained everything from the start of my governorship to the day I attacked Silverbrand. I will publish in essence what I said as in my eyes, I feel the reason many can listen to the rants of raves of Lady Meryadeles is because somewhere along the lines I did not do my job by informing you enough about my actions. In a day or two I will write it.

Aurora stops in front of the boards, reading the newly pinned accusations and insults. She then writes a short note:
This is the way I thought it would continue: offending, attacking, scathing each other, which will by no means help the citizens and inhabitants, nor Troll's Bane or Gobiath.
She turns and leaves with an expression showing anger, sadness and desperation

If no one has any objections. I wish to call forth a vote for all of Golbaith to have a part in. This will be a vote for the Governer of Trollsbane. Since Trollsbane is the Market town of Golbaith. I find it neccisary for everyone to have a vote. However, To keep things fair in the eyes of that you are not a part of trollsbane. I wish to put forth the following rules.
The size of the town will determine the ammounts of votes they are allowed to add into the tally. As such. Varshikar shall have 7 votes. Silverbrand will have 6, Greenbriar will have 5, Vanima will have 6, The Grey Rose will have 3, and Sorbania will have 2. Each citizen will have 1 vote each obviously. First it will be neccisary to assemble the Nominations of all those you wish to run for Governer, this is ofcourse if this system is agreed on.

After speaking with Stephen it is clear that he wishes to decide who can vote and who not. For example he wants to allow just votes of peoples on the citizenlist. But he doesn't accept new citizens who want to join and vote who may vote against him. That means he will accept just those new citizens who are for him.
Yes, that sounds like a fair vote.

~Eltherus Lumingham
----------------------------------------------------------------
Because many people seem to think, that there will be made failures every time, a single person leads the town, I thought about something: How would it be, if the mightiest, biggest and most important city of Gobiath would be lead by a council, existing of nine members, one of every race, one goblin, one fairy, one gnome, one human, one elf, one lizard, one orc, one halfling and one dwarf? This would make sure, that the desicions, taken by the leadingship of the town would support the wishes and requirements of each race. And it would also make sure, that no single person can seize the power.
The different members of the council should be choosen by their respective race. [All orcs together choose their representative, all fairies choose their representative,...]
Only the council may decide about a war, about changings in town and changings in the laws, than.

sir taylor,
i would like to mention two points.
first, it seems, that you forgot Caelum.
second , would it not be better, to look for and anounce candidates first?
i can easyly imagine, that most of the inhabitants of the isle would prefer a scholar, priest or even an reknown craftsman as governer.
let the knights and soldiers do, what they are for. let them serve. - not rule.
dictated and signed by Tjalf Kormson, farming supervisor of the briar.

Caelum would fall under the category of Greenbriar i had thought, But very well, Caelum would certainly only have 2 votes, Like Sorbania.
A council as such of what was said earlier, is completely irrational. However. There is allways this. A governer of Trollsbane will be elected. However, a council of one representitive of each town will be able to overrule any move made by the Governer with a three fourths vote. Also, each representitive of the town must be elected by that town, and agreed upon by two of the rest of the towns. If only one town agrees, then another canidate must be found.

Though Tjalf's mentioning is appreciated, it is best that Caelum is either not included or included in partnership with Greenbriar as a county. Caelum is merely land now, we've not yet spent our money on construction, therefore we are not a settlement and we do not pretend that we are.
