Hmm, I had a thought. My friend's character name was accepted a few seconds before the server crashed, could this have anything to do with it?

Edit: I meant the adding of new character names, not just that one name

This is a very serious matter. Only post on this topic if you have something to contribute about what you were doing just before the server crashed.

What did you do just before the server crashed? One player online..you don't get a chance to pin-point the bug like this!

The server is down and says it is up, i no this because i was looking at players online and i refreshed then they were all off.
My charictor is still on why? i no he is not.

sounds like he minimized the game to look who is ingame and crashed it with that.

It was me on another player than Gishmel(Torin Irongem). I had 9 fires going at once then all of them turened to pot ash at once, they were lit within 3 seconds of eachother and i had time to pick them all up befor it crashed about 15 seconds later.
and no i did not minimize.

It's starting to sound Spontaneous, Maybe it has to do with a Run-time error in a Timer somewhere, a loop maybe. Maybe it could be the rotting cycle, or it could be a server-to-client Malfunction that triggers the server to auto-protect it's self, But what he did had no reason for the crash, a 15 second delay is a bit to much to be caused by him..

Yes taylor is right, and to go into further deatail abou the quote Galim left.....

I had logged off and logged back on because all the people were on but i was kicked off. when i got back on i was booted again and that is probobly why it says i am still on.

Not saying this might not be my fault, i am not really shur but it probobly isent.

Okay, this narrows it down to a few less options:

We have a Logon, Possibilites are rather narrow.
-The server freaks out because of Malicious data being thrown at it(Very unlikely)
-The Server can't connect with the person logging on
-The Person Logging on causes an error with WHERE he is logging on(could you possibly point out where you were?)

I bet there is a few i'm missing. BUT! it is looking like a Run-time error and not a Syntax, thats a bit easier to spot and fix you know..

And also this might take one explination away.

If you try to logg twice or try to logg on right after you logged off(with the same player) the server stopps you so you have to wait to logg back on.

From what people are saying this happens when they are doing random things (like mining, talking, etc.). I dont know anything about programming hardly but there should be no reason that these things would shut off the server at some times and not others that I can see. Maybe a programmer for the game was changing the programming of the game and made a little mistake somewhere that causes this to happen at random times. Perhaps check if this started happening close to a time when someone was changing the programming and you could find the mistake more easily if they can tell you where to look. You might want to make a log of exactly when this happens and collect several times. Then check if there is any pattern.

Also, it MIGHT be a malicious 3rd-party program that some moron is using to be a jerk to everyone else by shutting the game down (I believe someone said that it often happens when there are many people on?). I don't think this is very likely though just like Taylor said because, apparently, it also happens when there are very few people on sometimes.

Just tried to log on and I couldn't connect to the server. I believe it was 6:02 AM for you. I went to see who was connected on the homepage and only Torin Irongem was on it said. I refreshed several times and it said he was on each time.

The homepage said the server was online though so maybe my computer was just being stupid... again

It helps to visit This Page when you want to check if the server's down or not. In normal condition, the blue line zigzags up and down on player number. If the server's sick, that blue line stays flat as a plateau, and you can usually even see just about how long it's been down.

Edit: (I guess that was for anyone who didn't already know)

That is me i am not on... and it is very unlikley for an error in any program i have ever seen to affect somthing at a random time because programs are not random in what they do but the actions people do on them are what makes random things occure. It could be possible thoe i am not an expert.

I no this may benifit my charictor but i do not like the way this is happening....it is not exactly fair if i am gaining skill points faster from being logged on if im not.

I think it was another of them server kick ups, when you get 10-30 mins then....Beep its down.
