I just want to make sure, i am not consience, even me isn't such an as... well, you know what I mean.

May I suggest a ban? He don't like the game, he don't like the peoples, so give him a ban so that he dont have to bear us anymore.
Please do ban me. That would complete martin's description of me as Jesus so nicely. Please forum crucify me, that would really make me smile.
At least they have something in common with you:
You don't fit to Illarion either. So I guess it would be the easiest way for us if you simply leave and search for another "true roleplaying game" with shitty graphics. Because of your oh-so-goodness I guess we're too bad anyway, so, just leave. No discussion, I ask you to leave and I ask you, no, I beg you to do that right now, in that very moment.

I do not want to have a player like you in my game. Whoever you are, I don't care, leave. I ask you once again: Leave.

You must be either blind or an idiot to compare Illarion graphics to runescape. And making a conclusion from the graphics to the game itself is more than stupid.

Leave.

Martin
Please do go on babbling the word leave if it helps your mental state of mind. Be assured that it doesn't bother me at all nor will it affect any decision I make. Leave or not is not up to you. Go make more "improvements" to turn illarion into more of a cesspit than it is. You can do that as you are doing it now, but don't think for a second that you can control me.

We really should. I mean, he's asking so nicely and its no skin off our back. While the crucifixion of Jesus left people regretting in the end, I can guarantee we will not feel the same sense of remorse later down the road. Therefore, it would not complete the description of him as Jesus, as spoken of by Martin.

I don't think you should ban him. Agreed some of his views are..skewed, and the way he puts them across sometimes could be better worded, but if that were a bannable offense these boards would be quiet indeed. Although I disagree with him on this occasion, as I feel the improvements have the chance to make this a more honest game, I have found his views to mirror my own in some instances.
It's nice to see someone who has decided to be honest and alienated rather than suck up and fit in.

More on topic; I like what I have seen so far though of course it is only graphics and hints at possibilities. By "only graphics" I don't mean to belittle them, in my opinion they are very good indeed. I just mean that Illa has never been about graphics for me. Until we get to play the new client it is hard to comment about anything else other than the graphics improving. Your, ("The team's") hard work is always appreciated even if the results aren't.

An ordinary user can only delete a post if it is the last post that user has made in the topic, meaning no one else has posted after him. There is simply no way for us to do that ourselves. It looks like you will have to turn on the death ray. Sorries. =3

Ellaron, I have yet to agree with any argument of his (or hers) that I have read. His (or her) behavior is appalling and often is the direct instigation of flaming. When was the last time he (or she) posted in a topic that didn't end in bitterness or a good locking?

About the real topic at hand: I really like what I see. As others have said, I would like to see more transparency in the text message windows, but it sounds like this will be dealt with (or so I thought I read). The new graphics are honestly not much of an improvement, but there are aspects that definitely make it seem much more appealing. However, I'm sure the majority of us don't play this game for its epic graphics. ;) Your work, as usual, is appreciated even if it goes unappreciated (if that makes sense).

On Topic: There are lots more flowers, grasses, trees, reeds, and the scenery is really nice. I love it I can't stop thinking about frolicking. :D You'll also notice there are several versions of each tree so it won't be so repetitive. The only thing I hope for graphics to do is to help be more immersive, oh and theres alot of other neato stuff but I won't spoil it.

Well, let us compare this new client with a car. What you see now is the color, the spoilers and such things. The engine is based on Java, but what I want to say, you only know a car if you drive it at 150 mph ;-) I mean, the graphics can be changed, that is NOT the client but some ressources the client uses. We receive small updates for this client almost every day and THAT is one of the great benefits: One can actually update this client rather fast without waiting months for a new build.

This client is a very first preview build. Even in this early stage, it features so many things all of us desired so eagerly. So many things will be possible and Illarion could turn into a better game. To all those who think Illarion doesn't need such a fancy Java client, have a look at the current client:

-No real update since 2001(!) -just some new gfx and minor features
-Crashes alot when run on WinXP SP2
-Updates require a new build
-Stupid ctrl-alt-shift-click interface
-Number of items is extremely limited
-Jerky animations
-Strange !#-commandos ("Add your title with !prefix or !suffix... Pardon me?")

So that exsplains why the server crashes alot when I'm on.

The server crashes for other reasons, this has nothing to do with the client. The client the the program on your computer, the "server" is the program on the ... guess what... server.

I don't see how the Graphics would change the roleplay of the game. Especially since the preview graphics look great!

Yes maybe one of the weapons and armors the next gfx update, and combat while in action. However I've been burning my bunz replacing lots of graphics, and it might take a bit for them all to be implemented into another graphic update. Hold onto your sporks. :D

Heheh. That would ruin the fun. I feel even Japheth gave up too much, too early. We spoil you too much and you start sitting at the boards waiting for our future Illarion while our current Illarion dries up and we lose motivation to keep building your future toy.

We came to Earth to tell you that there *is* a Heaven, but if we told you what we do in Heaven, you might forget you're on Earth.

Personally I quite like the new graphics from what I see on the screenshots, they look good. All the little... quirky and unfinished things are smoothed out, e.g. tile transitions (grass to forest) just make it look finished.

The new client has an over all much more professional and well-rounded look. As much as I agree with what some of the players have said about it loosing its old style and appeal. *Shrugs* The game has always been evolving, forget about graphics and game play for a moment, character and players play and interact differently to how they used to since I have been playing the game, so why not the game its self?

As said I am sure it is much more captivating with the animations and yes, I like the idea of that. I LOVE role-play but I like to be spoilt with the visuals to, after all it is a graphical RPG so why not have the best of both. I feel having looked at the previews we almost have!

I am excited about getting to dive in and submerge myself with new client. WE will still be there and with us playing will the game really be so different, loose its appeal? I do not think so. If anything we will be complaining about all the ‘newbies’ are wanting to play this gorgeous looking game!

In the negative, the actual game play window, I think it’s a bit small, I would love to be able to see more of where I am and give archery a better distance by default. There seems to be a lot of wasted space at the bottom by the counter that could be used more efficiently.

But that said, overall it looks thought out and great to see the real time clock is still there! It’s a small and over looked thing in most games but its damn handy!

Everything here looks great, but there is one thing that I really wish to know about. Back in the beginning when I first started playing nearly three and a half years ago, Illarion had it's own music that sounded awesome and was unique to Illarion. I believe the music itself was created by Yakin. With the coming of the last new graphical client last year, the music seemingly disappeared except in the lower levels of the earth in the old areas. Everything was awesome and it all fitted.

But with the coming of the new client, it was gone, Poof, just like that. I want to know if there will be any new music once again with the new client? It'd be awesome to have it as I for one enjoyed it greatly. Also I would like to inquire about sound effects? Will there be more in this client also? Thanks, all of these things add to the game and I'm enjoying everything you guys have done and will do in the future. Illarion is coming along very nicely and it has evolved from the day I first started. If I were a critic, I'd give this client version a 9.5 out of 10!

*applauds* Keep up the good work guys. *prays that there will be music and new sound effects galore in the new client* Be well!

PO Grunith.

One of the first things I did as a staff member was bring in a sound effects man to the team. Soonafter, with the help of Japheth, we also had a music team. Expect to hear all new sounds that are wonderful

I'll allow the members of our sound teams to reveal themselves if they feel like it.

Yes, we are trying to make new sounds and in process of editing and creating. If any of you have ideas/sounds to contribute PM or email me. Contributions are always welcome. Sounds recorded by yourself can be helpful as I do not have certain materials at hand that you may have.

I'd like to ask if all the data (such as hp coordinates, etc) will be displayed in the public version, just as it sems to be on the sneak peeks?

I suppose not - but who knows?

Well - yes...quite good work i think. Wasn't the "old" client written in Delphi? To build up the whole thing again in Java must have been hard work for nop. Well, at least the result looks fine.

The old one was written in C++.

And no, the HP messages and suchlike won't be in the final version, I think. The coordinates are client based, while the messages are server based. They're both for testing.
