you have to have a piece of coal in you hand and in your belt. It won't work without a piece in your hand but it will use the piece that is in your belt, or atleast that's what I have had to do. Then just ''use'' the furnace.

I've never needed a piece in hand. Just a piece in the belt is fine.

And thats what I was told to do. But I will just keep getting the ''you need coal to spark the furnace'' text if im not holding a peice also. hmm maybe that was just a temperary thing or a glitch. I will try it again, without a piece in hand next time I log in. After all it has been a long time since I have tryed any other way then my current method.

Use flour with a bucket of water. Then with another bucket of water in your belt, and the dough in your belt and a spoon in your hand, and a fire infront of you....Use the spoon.

you can make copper items the same way as iron ''with the hammer'' but I think it takes a bit of skill because I can make plenty of items with iron but barely anything with copper.

Where can I buy a cooking spoon? The merchant on top of the tavern in Trolls Bane won't sell one, and I've been unable to locate another merchant carrying them.

Seedlings i think you get when you let your harvest age. But someone who knows more about this should probably jump in and give the details.

Dye, sorry dunno.

Spoons any somewhat skilled carpenter can make one for you. If you cannot locate the Elfess.

Lance Thunnigan wrote:How do you make seedlings?
Apple 'seedlings' are made by taking an apple and setting it on farmland. Take a bucket of water and 'use' it with the downed apple. After a few tries you should get a seedling. Pick it up and set it on grassland. Let a rot cycle go through and you should have a tree.

Cherrys are the same as above, except with a cherry.

Fir tree seedlings are used by using a sickle with a fir tree. Keep trying to get one. You need to either splash a fir seed on forest ground or farmland- try farmland first. Set the seedling on the forest ground for a fir tree.

seedlings

my personal experience differs from Ku's description.

apple and cherry i just lay the fruit on grassland and water it. they need between one and ten buckets.
not every fruit results.
about other trees i have no knowledge.

karrots, tomatos (yes!), onions i just dont harvest and wait till seed is on the ground.
cabbage the same, only it's slim high bushes that work as seedlings.

grain its just the same grains, you use in the mill, that you use for planting.

Right. I remember they got rid of the farmland requirements a long time ago.

EDIT:

I figured this out..
Aparently seedlings aren't an item anymore. You splash them where you want them to rise.

Still doesn't help me. How do I know if they're going to rise or not?
I tested it and I splashed one Apple and one Cherry. Both rotted.

It's very easy to figure out.

Alrighty, Mr.Halfling is going to plant an apple tree to bake yummy pies with.
So, he takes his bucket in his hand and wanders over to his town well. He fills it with pure water and then sets an apple on the ground. After a few Shift+click Water, then Click the apple on the grassland, the water magicaly found it's self on the apple. Since he is a newb farmer, it didn't sprout. So after a few tries, and a few new apples, the apple turned into a tree sprout.

Presistance is key Lance.

lance,

keep on trying.

as i wrote, my char needs between 1 and 8 buckets of water. (maybe sometimes more i dont count allways)
if your fruit rots, dont try on the same square again. try another one.
